The more the power is concentrated in individuals (and the american model is doing that more and more as the years go on,) the more the people are at risk of intentional evil. The less the power is concentrated in inviduals, the more the public is at risk of mediocrity and the dictatorship of the majority. But in neither case does it do any good to "consider something else." You're at the mercy of large, unstoppable forces. If you don't like it, move. If you can't find anywhere worth moving, just lay low and try to live such that they don't stomp on you too much. Good luck. DaVinci 0 #27 January 27, 2007 QuotePerhaps this will put an end to the "but Kerry and his buddies are really responsible for starting the war!" claims. A swing and a miss! We don't say that, we say that they supported it. They could have said no, but they didn't. Bush lead the Country to war, but "Kerry and his buddies" let him. jumprunner 0 #28 January 28, 2007 QuoteQuoteThe good news there is that there isn't much question over who is responsible for the outcome of the war. Perhaps this will put an end to the "but Kerry and his buddies are really responsible for starting the war!" claims. Right. Bush proponents love to point the finger at Congress for giving him *permission* to go in there, but now think their opinion is meaningless, as it's Bush's call. Blues, Dave The "compassionate conservatives" are throughly confused, as usual. But we must learn to have patience with them. Like their master, "Jerrys' Kids" arent exactly the smartest people in the world, you know. Quote "I know there is skepticism and pessimism and that some are condemning a plan before it's even had a chance to work," the president said. Gee, I wonder why. It hasnt been working in the 90s, it hasnt been working for the last six years, and it's still not working. And they call us pessimists.
jumprunner 0 #29 January 28, 2007 QuoteActually, for once I agree with him on this: Quote"I know there is skepticism and pessimism and that some are condemning a plan before it's even had a chance to work," the president said. "They have an obligation and a serious responsibility therefore to put up their own plan as to what would work." I'm tired of the politicing around the war. Those in disagreement with Bush are being just as destructive to the lives of the troops by not submitting a solid plan of their own. Put up or shut up. Hey, we are putting up! Here it is: Get the fuck out of Iraq, now, without any furthur delay, Bush. There, that is the solution, and the only unacceptable solution to the problem he has caused, which we, as American citizens, are not responsible for. And the reason why we are not shutting up is because he wont do that.
