Just the facts, Ma'am.
What does this -QuoteWe did lots of things differently before 9/11. The government didn't tap our phones without a warrant. We didn't suspend habeas corpus for people at the whim of the president. We could carry nail clippers on airplanes. We didn't have to take our shoes off in airports. The VP didn't spend weeks in "undisclosed locations".
have to do with this -QuoteCan you imagine the stink if Newt tried to ask for the same priviledges as Hillary, back on '95?
It answered your question. Pity you were unable to fathom that out.
Security concerns that arose from the 9/11 attacks justify equating Nancy Pelosi's travel standards to be on par with the priviledges of the First Lady?
Get on wit yo bad sef.

QuoteQuoteSo, given that the USAF gave GOP speaker Hastert a jet to fly non-stop to his district, why is it unreasonable to give Pelosi similar consideration? Is your objection because she's a woman, or because she's a Democrat?
Under the circumstances of why the Speaker gets a jet, I don't have a problem with it at all. However, Special Air Missions out of Andrews has a host of planes that would suit her needs, not just the B-757 (C-32A) variant I've seen talked about on the news (the one she appears to be focused on). SAM has Gulfstreams (Gulfstream V, aka C-37A) that can provide the same coast-to-coast connectivity (range, 5,500 nm).
Are you sure, given prevailing winds and obligatory IFR reserves? I've been on an AF "commuter" jet that had to refuel mid continent on account of winds.
No-one has yet answered why it's OK for a GOP vice president and GOP first lady to get a C32 for ANY trip at all, but not for the 3rd highest official in the nation to fly coast to coast. "First Lady" isn't even a government official at all.
The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Actual, a number people have addressed that point. I'm guessing you are claiming no one has because you didn't like the answer. Go figure.

Who elected the First Lady? Was she confirmed by the Senate? Why can't the president pay for his own wife's travel, like the rest of us have to?

No one has yet answered why THIS speaker needs a C32 when the LAST speaker used a C37, which has the same range.

Love your "well, we have them... so why shouldn't members of Congress be able to use them" line of reasoning.

That WAS the reason we bought them. It says so right in their official USAF mission statement.
This entire storm in a teacup is just an attempt to divert attention from the ineptitude of the Bush administration and the 109th Congress.
Why not the same outrage about the $12BILLION is CASH pissed away in Iraq? Oh yes, that's a failure of Bush and cronies. I didn't see your whining about waste in that thread.

Face it. Your attempt to make your case, on this issue, is nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
I figured you initially chimed in for a little trollery amusement, but your reluctance to move on makes me think you're completely serious. Now that's funny. Sad, but still funny.

This reminds me of the time about four years ago that Hillary Clinton had her staff delay a commercial flight because she was running late and didn't want to get a different flight. She made all the passengers of this flight wait for 30+ minutes despite the fact that delaying a plane like this is against federal regulation.History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.

If you're arguing precedent, "did you hear - Clinton got a blowjob..... and lied to a grand jury about it" (NCclimber, 2/8/07) so maybe Bush should do the same.
Why not worry about the $Billions your hero in the White House is pissing away on a war he started under false pretenses?

Your whining about this and ignoring REAL waste by the Bush administration is amusing.
Why did Congress appropriate the money for the jets in the first place if they didn't want the jets used for the purpose specified?

Quit dodging, John, and answer the question - are you saying she needs the C32 because 1) she's a woman, or 2) she's a Democrat?
