A question about the Iranian operatives in Iraq.

Recommended Posts

I am not going to go back and forth about if the stories are true or if this administration is trying to make yet another false case for war.

Here is what interests me. I was listening to Michael Gram on my way to work today and he sounded so out raged that there are Iranian operatives in Iraq.

I believe we were told from the beginning that most of the people trying to kill our troops in Iraq are not Iraqis right?
So assuming that was true how come there is no out raged at all the other countries that have had a lot more operatives in Iraq then Iran?

Why are we not hearing about all other countries that are more involved in the “insurgency”?

Why pick on Iran?

I think you answered your own question there.

There are plenty of reports out there, but the coverage is spotty in many cases because where these insurgents are being faced, there isn't much press of any nature there at all.

In Ramadi, we were able to tell when mortar attacks were coming from certain opponents by the nature of when the attacks happened, and the types of ordinance used. We could also tell by the types of IED ambushes used etc.

There is no question that the Iranians are providing some measure of support. Other non-Iraqis are Syrian, and Saudi (via Syria). However, the "organized" groups appear to be Iranian.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Darius, Iranians are involved. Why are you so desperate to argue this fact? Is it because of your Iranian ethnicity?

I'm surprised it took so long for America to officially 'accuse' Iran of involvement.

Not that the USA/UK would have done it differently if the roles were reversed.

More importantly for us all though, tensions are dangerously taught - so of course there will be accusations and counter-accusations. And a lot of the 'noise' emitting from all this sounds very similiar to the 'noises' made over Iraq in 2002.

Now, if your sticking your oar into an already bad situation, making things worse for your own benefit, threatening to destroy another country, and developing nuclear arms, is it any mystery why you'd be picked on?

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I am sure my Iranian Ethnicity has something to do with it, but I believe the amount of bullshit that has been fed to us by this administration has more to do with it.

Also as I mentioned if all those countries have fighters in Iraq. Not to mention a lot more fighters who are actually engaging US troops why focus on Iran and the other countries? Or at least focus on all of them?

I guess that’s what always gets me. The hypocrisy of the way we do things.
It’s only ok for us. We are like the corrupt world police, and we still think people hate us because of freedom.

When will we learn?

We are not wanted there by any one.
The Iraqis don't want us, the whole region wants us out, fuck they never wanted us in. I just don't get this arrogant way of thinking that we know what is best for everyone.
Wouldn’t it be great if we focused on our own problems?

Yeah, indeed mate - New Orleans springs initially to my mind.

But there is much more to all the happenings in the Middle East today than meets the eye.

CNN had a piece on it about 15 minutes ago:o Surprised me too

Why pick on Iran?

Because of Iran's intrinsic Ev-OIL-ness of course.

Iran is not only "rich", it also occupies a strategic position between Iraq & Afghanistan and actually inspired Afghani resistance during the Soviet invasion.

As the leading Islamic theocracy, it inspires far too many folk to be a "Clear and Present Danger"... Or, as the Brits would put it, "Somewhat Irritating"!

Because of that, Iran is well overdue a return to rule by one of "Our" Useless Tosspots.

Mike.

Cool! Just you sign this "Arms for Oil" deal, remembering to initial the "Mutual Defence Clause" on page 3, indicating the country you'd prefer the outgoing government to be "Preventitatively detained" in, and we'll arrange to replace the 3 man Marine Honour Guard at our Tehran Embassy with 4 Armoured Cavalry Regiments all ready for your triumphal return to lead your people out of the darkness.:)
God Bless Democracy... In America of course... Don't you worry about that voting $hit in Iran... Just you concentrate on "Healing Your Country".

So what if Iran is involved? Any country in their right mind, and interested in their own defense is going to try to involve themselves in an extremely destabilized situation right next door. It makes sense that they're going to want the situation to go their way.

Sort of like how the US covertly supported Britain in the late 30s, or the Afghans in the 80s, and we weren't even next door.

Cripes people, in '62 JFK said that any action in this entire hemisphere would result in our retaliation.

I won't even mention the Monroe Doctine!! (wait, I did)

Iran's involved. So what? Quite frankly I have no idea why they'd want to deny it.
