you actually think the only reason your own government is not trying to kill you is the fact you all own guns?

fucking priceless

Hitler with the Jews was probably thinking the same thing. PRICELESS!

what the fuck has Hitler got to do with 21st centuary America?

Do you seriously think your government might start mass genocide of it's own people and the only reason it isn't is because it's population might form into merry little bands of militia, all roaming around with their precious little pistols?

I really can't believe i'm reading this..... i knew the average American was a gun nut paranoid, but this is taking the piss big time :D

April 19, 1993 - look it up.

The British had more and better guns than the Continental Army, too...and we know how that came out.

...

Typical pro gun (ir)rationale, take a scenario from 200 years ago and pretend it has any relivance what so ever to today.
You probably think the right to bare arms was actually written with a vision of modern day usage in mind:S:S:S:S
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)

I read this and was wanting to know what the Eurpeans though and what the americans thought, and why they felt so on their positions.

A lot of Americans feel the need to have weapons becuase of our laws... Europeans feel the opposite, but it is also becuase of the laws and how we both were broght up as a society.....

next....

In reference to your original post and this one, I think it's a combination of the role our Constitution plays in ensuring a limited government in the first place. It's also a cultural upbringing - how we're raised. Though, I can tell you the way America is currently raising its youth worries me a little bit.

There are communities here that feel they must try to protect their kids from all harm. Some won't allow soccer because hitting one's head against a soccer ball is hazardous. Elementary schools that no long have a recess to let the kids blow off steam because a kid might get hurt on the swing set.

I believe this is a direct link to how they react to things later in life (like High School or college), and somehow there is a correlation between suppressing the nature of "kids-being-kids" and adolescent deciding they should get a gun and kill everyone.

The result is you have a part of society that is meek and seeks protection, and thinks that protection should come from the government, at the expense of personal freedoms. The other part doesn't want government involved as much and would rather take personal accountability.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

YES Just like the electoral college was written, same as the 1st amendment.

In any event, it is not for the courts or legislators to change any right by passing a off handed law. There is a process spelled out how to do it. It is called amending the constitution. But that is too slow for some fanatics
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
Abraham Lincoln

So by that logic, freedom of speech is only applicable to documents hand-written with a quill pen?
