vtamb81 0 #1 April 21, 2007 www.wesupportvt.com In the last week, i've read many viewpoints regarding the tragedy at Virginia Tech on dz.com as well as other forums and blogs. This website has been set up as a petition for those of us that support the decision making of President Steger and Police Chief Wendell Flinchum, who in many peoples opinions have borne the brunt of unwarranted criticism by members of the media. The most severe of which are calling for resignations from each. This petition will ultimately be passed on to the VT Board of Visitors (VT governing body) as well as the Governor's Office. If you share this sentiment, please take a moment to fill out the short form and show your support for our school that is hurting so profoundly. Thank you. WE will prevail.....WE are Virginia Tech! cameramonkey 0 #2 April 21, 2007 Pardon me if this is too soon and too inflammatory, but what if you feel the administration contributed to the outcome by lobbying against legislation that would effectively allow licensed gun owners to carry on campus? Bear in mind this was no "any yahoo can carry" situation. it would require specific training and permitting to do so. I feel for the students at VT. I just feel that this "big brother will take care of me" liberal mentality is backfiring. We need to teach our students to be more agressive, and stand up for themselves as individuals. This "cower under a desk and wait to be rescued by the government" attitude is part of the problem. The guys on flight 93 had it right. Did they survive? Sadly, no. Did they seem to prevent a larger catastrophy by preventing the plane from hitting its target? It appears so. I call that a success (although a sad one). They realized they couldnt just sit back, wait for the plane to land and let the govt negotiate for thier release. Do I think EVERYONE should have guns? DEFINITELY not. We just need some more intelligent decisions out there... like not allowing green card holders to buy guns just because they have been in the state for 90 days. Wanna buy a gun [insert offensive ethnic name here]? Save your money and wait until you go back to your home country. Whenever I see "guns not allowed" signs, I wonder who that stops? Obviously not guys like Cho. PS I do Support the Chief. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
