masterrig 1 #27 April 30, 2007 Quotefurther on all these nonsense suggestions - short term limits will increase the legislators' dependence on lobbyists. Hardly a step forward. ____________________________________ What about, what those 'bought-off' politicians are supposed to do for the people who voted them into that office? They couldn't give a crap less about you and me. They're just looking for the big bucks they can make 'on the side' from the big business lobbyists. Get rid of the lobbyists and maybe, you and I might see a little more out of the politicians we vote for. Chuck
Turfsurf 0 #28 May 1, 2007 QuoteQuoteNot only do both sides buy into their own rhetoric, they use it as a way to debate each other! Meanwhile, no one is held accountable, the rhetoric fails to see a follow through too many times and public policy becomes seperated from what the public wants. I'm tired of it all and I only see it getting worse from here on out. Term limits... 1 term and go back to doing something respectable. NO campaign contributions...( eliminate the bribery) to ANYONE.... you donate to a general fund that ALL share from for elections. It's all up to us next year to make those changes. The threads here will not do much, but it sure feels good to throw some shit on politicians.Use your turn signal!

Lobbyists are experts on the subject matter they cover. Voters, and Members on most matters are not. You think their value is only about dollars. It's not. If I wanted inexperienced, ill advised junior legislators running Congress, I'd look at what happens on the San Francisco board of supervisors first. It ain't pretty. I'm sure, those lobbyists are 'experts' in their particular field and I also believe, they try to 'sweeten the pie' for the politicians, to get what they want. I don't know anything about San Francisco so, I'll have to take your word for it. I just don't trust any of them. Chuck

These groups are not telling the world what to do about global warming and then turn a 180 and buy carbon credits that don't do anything. Additionally, despite weird press coverage, a lot of these churches walk their talk in spreading good will and preaching their faith on missions, etc. I don't necessarily believe everything their preaching, but it's their right and if they have the means to use a jet, hey, go big. They aren't making excuses. There is a key difference in point. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! The end result was, not only do the preachers want a 'posh' life-style but, their followers also, want them to live high on the hog. Chuck
