Armour666 0 #1 June 19, 2007 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/17/AR2007061701179_pf.html The problem with this is it isolates children even further, certain human emotions are a learned traits empathy and compassion are not an inherent human train such as fear and anger. There have been several cases of children being in isolation and once reach age of anywhere from 7-12 did not learn certain emotions along with language skills. The more we isolate people the worse societal problems we are going to have in the future as the become adults. We are failing big time with all these living experiments. There has been a number of studies of inmates and there mental state from prolonged reduction in physical human contact and if it effects an adult what do they think it’s going to do to developing children /? Armour666 0 #7 June 19, 2007 ahh the good old days in my school was if you had a fight you didn't have worry aboug getting stabed, shot or beaten by a gange of them. you respected the teachers or you got the strap. Report cards ment something and you could fail and they would fail you from a grade. Not like now days in Toronto where I live a city of 3.5 million people the school board failed only 4 students last year thats across all grades.SO this one time at band camp..... How many of Mnealtx's examples happened in your school? I was in public school in 1973-1985 and 8 out of 8 I have a personal example or one directly observed. I can't only speak personally for about half the 2006 examples (and my daughter is in a very good public school that isn't as libbed out as those in the metro area) unless I can use news articles and secondhand story, then all of them. mijnjiku 0 #16 June 20, 2007 Not saying that there isn't a time or a place for everything, but depriving any human being of physical contact from others has a scientifically documented negative effect on their mental and emotional development (which can lead to physical deficiencies as well). They call it "touch hunger". http://www2.hu-berlin.de/sexology/GESUND/ARCHIV/SEN/CH23.HTM#b10-Touch%20and%20Childhood%20Development Scroll down to the "Touch and sexuality" section to get to the meat and potatoes of what I'm talking about.
