More great news from Iraq - 7/13/07

>open your mind and learn why . . .

The GOP is finally starting to admit why. From Sen. Larry Craig:

--------------------------
What happens to the world energy supply if Iran does gain more control in the Middle East? What are the realities of the consequences of an Iran that possibly could gain control over 54% of the world energy supply? They could place a choke hold over the Strait of Hormuz and possibly in sea lanes in the region, severely limiting the supply of oil to the world market. That is not just a reality that the United States must face, but a reality for the world. I have worked very hard with my colleagues to lessen the U.S. dependence on foreign oil. However, we are not yet capable of raising production in the United States because we have been blocked by the other side of the aisle from doing so. Therefore, a premature withdrawal from Iraq could have dire consequences with our economy and energy supply; but would also have the same effects on the world economy.”

>September too long to wait?

Oh, yeah, and about September being a decision date. Looks like that was a lie bad intelligence a statement not entirely in keeping with reality:

U.S. officials say Iraq gripped by fear

By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer

Iraq is a nation gripped by fear and struggling to meet security and political goals by September, U.S. officials said Thursday from Baghdad, dashing hopes in Congress that the country might turn a corner this summer. One general said not to expect a solid judgment on the U.S. troop buildup until November.

In briefings to the news media as well as members of Congress, officials warned that making those strides could take more time than first thought.

-------------------------

Come November, the statement will be "we've been making steady progress although the insurgency has become more resilient. By January 08 we will REALLY see some progress."

Come Jan 08, we will hear "the sectarian violence has increased in some places, but it has decreased in Samarra! We're winning! We just need another surge of troops to pacify Baghdad and Fallujah; we should see solid progress by May."

May 08: "I don't know what you're talking about. We never said anything about progress by May. But by September of this year, we will see if the New Surge works. What's the matter? September too long to wait?"

Powel tried to talk Bush out of war!

***“I tried to avoid this war,” Powell said at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado. “I took him through the consequences of going into an Arab country and becoming the occupiers.

He added: “It is not a civil war that can be put down or solved by the armed forces of the United States.” All the military could do, Powell suggested, was put “a heavier lid on this pot of boiling sectarian stew”.[/url]

Yea, but Powell sank to the same low when he was lying his ass off to the UN and giving that ridiculous speech showing video of weapons that had been destroyed years ago by Scott Ritters team. Everyone in the UN knew he was lying including himself.[:/] But America believed him and that short guy!:D:D:D:D You Suckers!;)

Somebody either call me a genius or idiot

I could call you either of those but would most likely be banned for spreading a rumor of you being a genius;).
