Must be true, it's even on Newsmax:D. Good riddance.

From NYT:
"As recently as Sunday afternoon, Mr. Gonzales was denying through his press spokesman, Brian Roehrkasse, that he intended to leave.

"Mr. Roehrkasse said Sunday afternoon that he had telephoned Mr. Gonzales about the reports circulating in Washington that a resignation was imminent, “and he said it wasn’t true, so I don’t know what more I can say.”

"White House spokesmen also insisted on Sunday that they did not believe that Mr. Gonzales was planning to resign."

Looks like the left hand is clueless about what the right hand is doing in this administration.

[Good riddance.

I call it a good start. One down; Two to go.

One down?

So Rove didn't count?

He was just WH Chief of Staff. He had a hell of a lot less power over the country than the US's top law-enforcement official, or POTUS, or a VP-who-is-acting-as-POTUS.

I have a friend who has a theory that the Bush/Cheney administration is a real-life implementation of "The Hudsucker Proxy". i.e. Bush thinks he is in charge, but in reality Cheney is pulling all the strings, but letting Bush think he is running the country.

So we can safely assume the same thing was happening when Bill, I mean Hillary, was running the country? ;)

C'mon - you don't seriously expect the truth from these folks. They did much the same with Rumsfeld (well, and with WMDs, etc., etc., too).

> small but very good victory for democracy, not to mention truth and justice.

No victory yet. If we can get someone into that position who respects the constitution and feels he has to answer to the people of the United States, instead of the president - that will be a victory.

In a "just when it couldn't get any worse" sort of moment, I just flashed on the scary thought Rove could/might run for President.

After all, he can almost say outright he's been the President for the last 8-years . . .

In the meantime it would really be nice if the rest of our elected representatives would do their job and impeach these crooks, instead of us being forced to put up with crooks until they voluntarily leave.>:(>:(>:(

Considering what this administration has done to the people of this country, it's constitution and bill of rights...
Bush and Thugs get what they get. If there is any justice in this country Bush and his gang of warmongers will spend the rest of their lives in prison. Hopefully Gonzales will be brought up on perjury charges and get what he deserves.

Bush cries like a little girl...Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa. LOL:D:D:D:D:D:D:D. What a douchebag.
WACO, Texas (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Monday lashed out at critics of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who resigned from the top law enforcement post, for unfair treatment and dragging his name "through the mud."

Bush, before leaving Texas to attend Republican fund-raisers, called Gonzales a man of integrity, decency and principle, and said he had reluctantly accepted the resignation, which came "after months of unfair treatment that has created a harmful distraction at the Justice Department."

"It's sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales is impeded from doing important work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons," he added.

Can you believe this asswipe of a president:D:D:D:D

Shit day at work. That made my day. One more RAT outta office. Who's next? :PB|

Lovely comment from Dana Milbank in the WP:

"faced with these rumors, the Attorney General directed his spokesman to deny them. For a man accused of lying to Congress, it was a fitting way to go out."

I'm confused. When he says "political reasons" is he referring to Gonzales lying to Congress, violating the Constitution, or simply the system of checks balances that keeps us from having a king?:D
I hope Congress keeps up the pressure and finishes their job:|

Did you call for the resignation and prosecution of Janet Reno when she incinerated scores of men, women and children just because they were in an unapproved religious sect?

How about when Randy Weaver's dog, son and wife were murdered by FBI snipers for a dispute over one inch of gun barrel length?

Yeah, that darned Gonzalez was one evil son of a bitch.
