QuoteOh, I understand the need for the PC speech. But the death is still an accident.
The death happened due to an accidental discharge of a weapon due to negligent handling of said weapon.
We no longer consider drunk driving deaths to be accidents. We call them felonies if the driver survives.
QuoteQuoteQuoteHere is another question. Anyone have the stats on how many illegal guns owned by criminals were once legally owned?
Probably most of them. One of the things criminals do is steal things.
If guns were illegal, and not made available to the general population there would less to steal from.
Yet England still has millions, which seems like more than enough for the criminal element (or the drug dealers to add to their inventory)
QuoteQuoteYeah, but she acts that way about my dad's guns too.
That's because she's still a mother and had the training.
so you're saying women are too dumb for guns?
You're just making shit up now. People's general knowledge of guns is very similar to their knowledge of physics. They believe that explosions make noise in space, that when shot you fly back 15 feet from the impact, and buses can jump gaps in bridges without ramps. The most intelligent thing you can expect is people now realize that real guns need to occasionally be reloaded - far more often than Chow Yun Fat does with his movie studio FS92s.

You know quite well that is NOT what I said, and you conveniently edited out the rest of my paragraph.

There are hundreds of millions of guns in the USA. We all see them pretty much every day of our lives whether or not we own any. A few hundred people have flown in space and maybe 3 have witnessed an explosion in space and lived. A few dozen stunt men have driven buses over gaps in bridges.
BIG DIFFERENCE.
The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

QuoteQuotePerhaps the best term to use is "unintentional". That's what the CDC uses. The gun guys are nitpicking a bit, but they (we) like to make it very clear that an action is required (nearly always) to have a gun discharge. The reason for flogging that point should be clear.
So PC speech it is.
(it will be fun in the future to catch people in the pro-gun crowd when they get annoyed with other PC speech )
Isn't unintentional pretty much synonymous with accidental?
Yeah. I just suggested it cuz CDC already uses it. How about using this acronym: NMNSIGDGOOIO*?

Not really. There is a large portion of the country that has never handled one and doesn't understand a thing about them. With that level of ignorance, the Brady types have fun, talk to them about how plastic glocks can go through airport security, how safeties are necessary AND 100% reliable, etc.

In this case, it's not that it's PC, it's to correct a mis-statement. Gun owners aren't crying "hate speech" when someone says "gun accident".
I love you, Shannon and Jim.
