Another sub-par hurricane season

Recommended Posts

After all the Global Warming/more hurricanes hubbub following Katrina, I thought we'd see some major activity the last two hurricane seasons.

Last year was below average and the past season was the least active in 30 years.

Where is Al Gore to tell us what to make of this?

Edited to add:

Is this one of those situations where "The Science is Settled"?

Just you wait. When the big storms come it will be due to man made global warming. Natural random weather patterns have nothing to do with it.

Global warming is real and without a doubt we humans have in the past and continue to polute the planet.

But global warming is NOT(at least not yet) on the apocalyptic level that the Al Gores of this world say it is. But we do need to change our ways. We humans of the last century have been rather selfish with our behavior towards this planet.

Then again, global warming is irrelevant to the religious zealots who embrace the end of the world as a good thing.

What are you talking about? He saved us from the hurricanes. They're going to create a Nobel Prize for that too...:S
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Then again, global warming is irrelevant to the religious zealots who embrace the end of the world as a good thing.

Religious zealots don't embrace the end of the world, but some do embrace liberals right to abortion. Since most religious zealots have no intention of killing off their next generation as opposed to liberals killing off their future generations it sould be a win / win. With fewer and fewer liberals breading and those that kill off their young, this alone should reduce Global Warming.

I'm doing my part in purchasing C02 offsets with some new scrubs around the house and a few flowers.

NOTE: The above comment is on par with your religious zealot crap.>:(

Quick quiz. Will global warming:

1) make every hurricane stronger and every season worse than the last?

2) make every day warmer?

3) melt all the ice in Antarctica?

4) swamp Manhattan by 2030?

5) make it rain everywhere?

6) cause a drought everywhere?

Answer to all the above - no. It will make temperatures _slightly_ warmer. It will make the hottest days a bit warmer. It will make summer last a little longer. It will make some ice melt. It will make your average hurricane a bit stronger. In areas where high temperatures lead to drought, it will make droughts a bit worse. In areas where high temperatures mean more ocean evaporation and thus more rain, floods will be a bit worse.

That's something that people on both sides of the argument consistently miss. It's not just like "The Day After Tomorrow" and it's not "all hot air." The climate is warming, and our emissions have a huge influence on how much it warms. We can not rely on what weather patterns used to be like; they will change. (And yes, they would have changed anyway - but they're going to change a lot faster now.) But that doesn't mean the world is ending.

How long has the drought in the SE been going on now?

Worst in history.. Atlanta with less than 90 days of water...

Yup... No climate chage at all.

And everyone awaits you parking your boat (not selling is cause someone else will use it) and you sand buggy to help the cause:)

No, there's no global warming. Just the first two landfalling hurricanes were cat 5's. (Never happened before) And it's 90 in October in Baltimore and the enitre southern half of CA is on fire. But I have it on good authority from GOP HQ that there is no global warming. :|

In case you missed it from her earlier posts, Jeanie is looking forward to global warming.

This drought as seen in Southern California hasn't (yet) come remotely close to what we experienced in the 80s. Even with substantially more people, and less water coming from the Colorado. (other states using more)

The dust bowl in the 30s wasn't caused by global warming either.

OK. Then perhaps you understand why she feels no need to "park her boat" - she WANTS global warming to happen, and thus is producing as much CO2 as she can.

Yes, I understand. She is good at telling others what they should think and do. I was just trying to return the favor.

Sorry you missed my point.

By the way since you seem to like to post my comments out of context. I still believe the global temps will change regarless of, and with very little relation to, man made CO2. You know, just to be clear.
