Catering to the DU/moveon.org crowd?

Quote

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina (CNN) – At a campaign event Saturday, Sen. Barack Obama called his distant cousin, Vice President Dick Cheney, "a crazy uncle in the attic."

Obama was referencing the recent revelation by the Vice President's wife, Lynne Cheney, that he and the Vice President are distantly related.

"For the first time in a long time, the name George Bush will not appear on the ballot," he told the crowd of about 500 people at Converse College in Spartanburg.

"The name Dick Cheney, my cousin, will not appear on the ballot," Obama said. "We had been trying to hide that cousin thing for a long time. Everybody's got a black sheep in the family. A crazy uncle in the attic."

We had been trying to hide that cousin thing for a long time.

The secret that really matters, that people should be asking about, is Obama's membership in the Council on Foreign Relations (along with all other mainstream candidates from both parties).

Not to mention the fact that Zbigniew Brzezinski, one of the founders of the Trilateral Commission, has endorsed his candidacy. To me that's pretty telling of where he's coming from, and that he does not have the interest of the people of the US in mind.

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Why is membership or affiliation with CFR something about which to be concerned?

While it would probably be interesting to read your views on those relationships, does your post have anything to do with the content of the OP?

Because only the most influential politicians, academics, financiers, corporate executives, etc. are members...in other words, the country's ruling elite. The organization exists to serve their interests, not yours or mine. Discussions are behind closed doors, and decisions are made in the dark that affect you and me.

Do you think a candidate that is a member of such an organization should be deemed trustworthy?

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

You're right.

I probably should have made a post about zonkeys, axolotls and rock hyraxes.

I don't think it's at all exclusive. I get occasional invitations to their Chicago area events (I ignore them).

CFR events are one thing, membership is another. Big difference sir.

From their FAQ page:

Quote

Candidates are formally proposed in writing by one member and seconded by a minimum of three other individuals.

Have you been proposed as a member?

CFR publishes Foreign Affairs. If they were interested in pushing Obama's candidacy they never would have published his article a couple of issues ago. He thoroughly embarrassed himself and showed he is not ready to deal with politics at the international level.

Too old! However, university faculty are commonly invited.

It's not secret, like the Skull & Bones, you know.

Catering to the DU/moveon.org crowd?

Considering that Cheney's probably the most hated man on the planet I'd say he's trying to bolster US/Foreign relations.;)
If it were me I'd have used "mean old crazy honkey", you know, giving him his "props".

Thanks for illustrating my point. :D

No problem! Glad to help. But you know, they can't be that closely related. Otherwise Obama would have simply said "I never said that!" or "go fuck yourself" like a respectable public servant would have done:D:D
