Another man dies in Vancouver after being tasered

Recommended Posts

"He was the third person to die in recent weeks in Canada after being shocked by the hand-held weapon."

How many suspects have been killed or died in custody in the last year in BC? 3 accidental deaths sounds like a hell of a lot for any sized metropolitan area. Did they buy their tasers from Dr Kervorkian?

Canada is not a Metropolitan area.
This recent one was in Chilliwack, a city about 100km from Vancouver. The other one happened in Nova Scotia, about 7000km from Vancouver.

What's creepy about this is that if the tasers really are pretty safe (say 1% of their targets are killed) then there are hundreds of taserings occurring up there.

They seem to be using Tazers like a human version of a cattle prod. Good for getting the sheeple to tow the line.

No, skycop watches people jump to conclusions, then (attempts) to give an informed opinion. But this SC so the actual attempts at the truth, are at your own risk.

(sorry about the whole 3rd person thing, thought I'd try it).....

That said, the population of Canada is only a bit bigger than the greater Southern California metropolis.

Well not quite Wikipedia lists Los Angeles/Long Beach/Santa Ana urban agglomeration as just under 13,000,000; Canada has about 32,000,000.

You left out San Diego, Santa Barbara. LA and Orange County is just a piece of SoCal. The whole is closer to double that.

impossible. skycop assures us that a taser is not a deadly weapon.

...and that cops never lie. ;)

From what we have been told, this man from Chilliwack asked for it. He was violent in the store before the cops arrived and when they did get there he was pepper sprayed, clubbed and then tasered after fighting with the cops.

But hold on ... this is exactly what the cops at the Vancouver airport told us. That the Polish immigrant fought with them before they had no other choice but to taser him. Of course we know what happened in Vancouver thanks to the video.

My comment is irrelevant to this tasering. I wonder how many active police officers were also the same kids who in high school didn’t have many friends, were picked on, an generally weren’t popular.

Problem is, the taser should only be used when the only reasonable alternative is a gun, but it is used a hell of a lot more than that. I made some good coin a while back, shorting TASR stock on the way down.

In Toronto alone the Taser has been used more than 360 times this year.

Only sergeants and the ETF (SWAT) Team carry them. No deaths and not even a complaint lodged with relation to the Tasers.

that should be very comforting for the widow/child/parent/etc

.

There are many, many less of those BECAUSE of taser use, and that my friend is a FACT.

Your respect for facts seems to be murcurial at best.
