A man who is beaten nearly to death by a gang of blacks has a rational reason to distrust and avoid blacks. That does not mean he's not a racist.

Know what you mean. One of my grandmothers was raped by some black guys when she was a teenager, and she carried much racism with her through the rest of her life.

Well I never brought it up with her, and I know it's hard to walk in someone else's shoes, but I've never been prone to judge an entire race based on the acts of individuals. It was hard all those years not to broach the topic with her.
