superwoman8433 0 #28 March 1, 2008 YEAHHHHH!! I am a fucking right wing wuffo fucknugget, that doesn't want to pay more taxes to support welfare, war, illegals hospital bills, and bail out the people who should have never been financed in the first place, GO AFTER THE PEOPLE THAT STARTED THE WHOLE THING.....BANKS!!! Oh, I also would like to stop paying for everyone else to have healthcare EXCEPT the US!!!!! I can't get meds free or even at a reasonable cost but everyone in Africa can. Just because someone is right wing, doesn't mean they support Bush. Right wing supports individual success and believes that one should be rewarded on how hard they work. If I work 70 hours a week and make 6 figures then damnit I EARNED it!! I sure as hell don't want someone coming in and saying that I should bail out people who are having hard times. When I had hard times, I got out and got 2 jobs. Just my two cents, if anyone wants to listen

I'll assert (without proof!) that we'd all be better off if we shifted even half our time spent being crass towards those who don't share our views to drawing in the reigns of those who represent our views in a virulent manner. nerdgirl 0 #47 March 3, 2008 Quote Quote This comes to mind. I think you need two more "solid" references! “Why people fail to recognize their own incompetence” & “Why the Unskilled Are Unaware: Further Explorations of (Absent) Self-Insight Among the Incompetent” Sorry, w/today’s electronic search engines, it’s just so easy. If one reads the articles, particularly the first one linked in the thread -- full text version is available here -- what was found is less w/r/t unfettered ‘incompetence’ but more w/r/t over-estimation of one’s abilities. Or misplaced over-confidence. The lurking question is … how do you (general “you” not specific) or *I* know where we fall along the distribution? “Subjective competence, appraisals and self-assessment” & “Assessing self-awareness: some issues and methods” The irony may be that those who are more likely to ask that question and pursue feedback may be the least likely to fall into the inappropriately mis-confident portion of the distribution curve. But that’s just my hypothesis. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. Quote "You must be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi I like the quote ... a lot! Thanks. As I read it, you may (or may not? be getting to the idea of “emotional intelligence,” which can be a fairly controversial idea (because on one extrapolation it can lead to what some would argue is over-emphasis on qualitative ‘self-esteem’ versus meritocracy) and one that is not always linearly proportional to more formal measures of intelligence, e.g., “IQ.” /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. superwoman8433 0 #49 March 3, 2008 I will consider myself a wuffo even when I have 1000+ jumps. My boyfriend (Kevin Love) has over 12,000+ jumps and one thing I have learned is I will always be learning in this sport. As long as I don't get comfortable and am aware of EVERYTHING in the air there is something to learn on every jump. I learned yesterday when I was jumping at Deland, many people don't pay attention to anyone but themselves when they are in the air. Which prompted me to land with the students because the "experienced" jumpers were landing every which way possible. No matter how many jumps someone has, even the ones with 1000's, people tend to get comfortable and don't pay attention.
