lisamariewillbe 1 #76 March 27, 2008 QuoteHad you let your children out wearing those outfits, you surely would have wound up in front of a judge and on the cover of every paper in town. Not too many find terrorism, ethnic bigotry, and setting children up for ridicule is funny.~~ I didnt though did I? Nope, nor would I end up in front of a judge, it was for halloween, if someone can send thier kids out as satan and witches I could send my children out as that, but I did not. And Im not a bigot nor do you know me enough to accuse me of such. Actually in that post I said nothing of terrorism, all I did was say I thought of dressing them up with a towel on thier head, which would suggest they would go trick or treating as arabics or muslim, your the one who brought it to terrorism.Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
aprilcat 0 #77 March 27, 2008 ...okay.... And by the way, I did not call you a bigot. I am saying those costumes are bigoted (see: your usage of the term 'towelhead'). Back on topic, I don't think it would be a fair law to impose on baggy pants. Each generation has its own trends. Kids grow out of trends and shouldn't be tossed into the 'system' over a trend (as long as its not violent or a health hazard--like Flagpole sitting or swallowing goldfish.)~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo! lisamariewillbe 1 #78 March 27, 2008 Yes I agree the term used was bigoted, I apologize for the error on saying you called me one. tmaricle55 0 #79 March 27, 2008 Quote If we allow that to pass, where will it stop? In ten years freedom of expression will be against the law, and we will have a national dress code. Agreed!!! I think the government has their hands in enough of my business. This country was based on FREEDOM - and let us not take that lightly. Making more laws against that proves nothing short of we are going backwards. Muff Brother # 3883, SCR # 14796 ICD # 1 - Pres. Yeah, I noticed and I think it's funny! shropshire 0 #80 March 27, 2008 2nd'd. If they can make laws to cover this, then they can about Head Scarves, Religious Jewlery, or Cross Dressing etc.... etc... Criminalising clothing is daft beyond all doubt. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome

At that time and in that manner, if you say you had any other term but terrorist on your mind, you're asking me to believe that you're as dense as a brick. I don't. I think instead that you're trying to pull a symantic backpeddle from an indefensible position. You'd be better off just saying that you had a really base, tacky idea but thought better of it before you made a really bad choice. You are only as strong as the prey you devour
lisamariewillbe 1 #82 March 28, 2008 Im not trying to backpeddle, if I was Id state I dont find it funny, nor did I find it funny however I have not stated that, then nor now. This threads not about my poor taste in jokes (which if you notice I never hide that fact even a year ago) Id rather have poor taste in humor then to beat my kids or force more govt on us citizens or to drink and drive and hit a light pole, but once again this thread is about dress codes and baggy pants not my sense of humor or lack there of... jeesh people suck it up and stick with the issue, the bonfires for playing , making fun or spending all your time searching through my thousands of posts to find one to refrence not SC this place is still sacred Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
happythoughts 0 #83 March 28, 2008 Mmmm... mini-skirts... I mean the real ones. Back in the day, it wasn't a matter of being about to sit down in a decent fashion. Sitting was out of the question. I mean the ones that the wearer had to stand perfectly straight. The slightest lean to a side would pretty much remove all imagination from the picture. When Flashdance came out, the idea was that women from Pennsylvania steel mills were wearing legwarmers on their walk to ballet class. Soon 8yo girls in Florida were waiting in 91 degree heat for the bus. That is a fashion as dumb and inconvenient as wearing your pants around your knees. All the people being caught with their pants down this week were politicians. They'd never get a governor to approve this bill (being the moral icons that they are). jpjc2000 0 #84 March 28, 2008 No law should be passed IMO, but if the public schools say no to it, then it is just that...No baggy hang down to your knees pants. Part of the problem is parents who think their kids have rights to do whatever they want in public, everywhere and anywhere, and will sue otherwise. futuredivot 0 #85 March 28, 2008 Wow, claws out! Don't live your life on the forums if you don't want to get called down every once and awhile. Baggy pants-dumb, but so were parachute pantsLegislating dress codes-unless it's a safety issue (OSHA)-dumb Let parents be parents, but also hold parents accountable as parents. My wife has barred me from her PTA meetings (she's the T in the mix) because she knows what I'll tell the paerents when they ask why little whatever is acting up. Walmart, several years ago-parent corners us to have an on the spot conference (bad idea, that our time) Wife goes into approve PC line about rewards/consequences..blah blah blah. I jumped in with "Well, your social skills are lacking and you walk around in public dressed like a whore, how do you expect your kid to act? Quotebut so were parachute pants Am I old if I know what those are? QuoteLet parents be parents, but also hold parents accountable as parents. Who holds the parent accountable? And in what form? Although I think parents are held accountable for thier kids... I got to go to truancy court last year cause my youngest was late 18 days in a row. I was dumbfounded his brother wasnt ever late and they walked in together every day... so once I got "warned" I decided to follow the boys into class one morning , low and behold Codybear visted every hall and walked into class at the bell (thats tardy) I handled it but I think its stupid I had to go to court because you dont get warned you get the papers... mnealtx 0 #88 March 29, 2008 I don't have a dog in this fight, other than thinking it looks stupid. I don't think a law is the right answer, though.
