Zarkon 0 #26 March 26, 2008 I got the sarcasm, just pointing out how absurd their claim is. Our choices are going to be between a pathological liar and a bigot vs a warmonger. Can't we just throw them all back and start the primaries over again? This could be a season for a third party to make some ground, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Royd 0 #39 March 26, 2008 QuoteNot necessarily. The superdelegates, or a portion thereof, could correct the injustice done to the primary voters from Michigan and Florida by voting for the winners of those primaries, which happens to be Clinton. This, imo, would speak highly of "where democracy is in the Democratic Party."The Democratic Party said those votes wouldn't count because of the schedule change. Clinton went ahead, against the rules, and put her name on the ballot. Obama obeyed the rules of the game. Clinton cheated, hoping that she could eventually swing things in her direction. Fl. and Mich. have done the right thing by not allowing those votes to count.

As far as I'm aware, the candidates only agreed to not campaign in those states, not refrain from being on the ballot. If that's the case, Clinton did not violate the rules agreed upon. QuoteFl. and Mich. have done the right thing by not allowing those votes to count. Florida and Michigan would love for those votes to count. It is the DNC that has thus far not allowed them, which basically sends a message to the voters in those states that their opinion isn't important enough for their votes to be counted.Math tutoring available. They've been pretty clear in the message - if the party representatives in your state violate the DNC's rules for primaries, your vote isn't counted. To test both theories, let's wait until next year. If few democrats from those states vote, your theory is correct. If they move their primary back to an acceptable date, then the DNC's is. jcd11235 0 #46 March 27, 2008 QuoteJudge ruled that unconstitutional in Michigan, since the early date keeps minor parties from having access to voter lists. I'm not clear on how a judge ruled that superdelegates cannot cast a vote a certain way in the future. QuoteI am thinking that excluding third parties from the process is not a good path to take. I agree completely, and that is one of the major problems with our current presidential election process. Third parties are effectively excluded; casting a vote for a candidate that is not a Republican or Democrat is, at best, throwing your vote away, or, at worst, reducing the chance of victory for your favorite of the Reps and Dems.Math tutoring available. If they move their primary back to an acceptable date, then the DNC's is. I'm not sure how that will test anything. Did Florida's voter turnout drop significantly in 2004 compared to 2000? Unless the voters have reason to believe that the problem extends beyond this year's presidential election, then there is no reason to expect voters to refrain from voting next year to any greater extent than normal for non-presidential elections.Math tutoring available.
