BillyVance 34 #1 April 26, 2008 I like this guy. 'They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk: Why you ain't, Where you is, What he drive, Where he stay, Where he work, Who you be... And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk. Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what ? ? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics. I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2 ? ? Where were you when he was 12 ? ? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol ? ? And where is the father ? ? Or who is his father ? People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong? People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something ? Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up ? Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body? What part of Africa did this come from?? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail. Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us. We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer.' lurch 0 #5 April 27, 2008 Major, major respect for the man. Wish the likes of Jackson and Sharpton could be replaced by a few more leaders like him. Live long, Dr. Cosby. Your people need you. -BLive and learn... or die, and teach by example.
airdvr 210 #6 April 27, 2008 Take a good look at the Maury Show, when they do those DNA test to find out who the father is. You'll see exactly what Dr. Cosby is talking about. Of course, 'ol Cliff Huxtable fathered some of his own that way too. The man is saying what only a black man can say in our society today. And he's 100% on the mark. Please don't dent the planet. Andrewwhyte 1 #7 April 27, 2008 Can anyone think of another black comedian who has never told a joke about being black? His jokes are about being a kid, about being a parent, about being an American. There is another thread on here about the US being a racist society. It seems most US comedians use points of division in their routines. Perhaps the most common is race. Bill Cosby uses points of unity; how this stuff happens to all of us. I grew up in a very white part of the world. Bill Cosby was a constant counterpoint to the portrayals of black North Americans as different from me; Bill was just like me.
woady 0 #8 April 28, 2008 Bill Cosby was like a father to me when I was growing up. I love everything the man says. "DAD IS GREAT....HE GAVE US CHOCOLATE CAKE!"You know what's similar between Cops and Firefighters? They both wanna be firefighters.

aprilcat 0 #11 April 30, 2008 Quote Every time I hear his name, I remember The Chicken Heart". Boom boom...boom boom...he's in your hommmmmmme state... Yes, he is very funny and on spot with the above mentioned observations. It is sad and ironic that a white man killed his only son. As far as afrocentric names go, it began as a search for identity, picked up by the uneducated. I've run into a woman named Aquanetta; know of someone who named her kids L'mongello and O'rongello (thats lemon jello and orange jello, dummy!) I thank my mother for giving us names that could get us an interview--I made sure I did the same for MY children. No convicts in my family, but I was allowed by law to whoop ass when they didn't do what they should. Have you heard about Cosby and Camille beating their kids, well, they did and he joked about it many times. My mom was old school (we grew up in Brooklyn and I think they named the Belt Parkway after her) you looked at a grownup sideways and said something smart, that grownup would beat your a$$, then take you home and you'd get another from your mom, then Dad came home and...lets put it like this, you did what you were told without question. Maybe if parents were allowed to have more hands on parenting, there wouldn't be so many 18 year old boys with memorials on every other street corner. When I was 18 you came home at 11 or you didn't come HOME. There was no Ritalin--you paid attention or you were got hit in the head and wished you had some Ritalin, so you paid attention the best you could. We went to Church and said 'please' and 'thank you'. When little kids ask me for something I ask them 'whats the magic word'. They know it, nobody makes them SAY it. Screw it. I'm at the age where I have to make sure everyone in my neighborhood knows me cause if I'm coming home after 11 I want someone on MY side...at least as a witness!~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo! BillyVance 34 #12 April 30, 2008 A-fucking-men! Yep, my parents were the same way with me. Get out of line and I could expect a belt-whupping. Say a bad word and I got the soap in the mouth treatment. Come to think of it, the soap didn't work.... I cuss worse now than I did back then. I try to do my best with my 2 year old. She knows not to do certain things and when I check on her, and she is doing something she should not do, she stops quickly. It doesn't take but 5 seconds left alone for her to get into trouble. I would not use the corporal punishment my parents did, but nothing wrong with a good spank when warranted, and she seems to respond well when I threaten her with the "do what I say or go to bed". It's a never-ending struggle at her age, but it's fun to see her grow. Hopefully the day comes when she's well disciplined and never needs serious punishment, if such a thing is possible. What I'm NOT looking forward to is her teenage years.
