rhys 0 #1 May 11, 2008 Hey there, I have just learned about this supposed union of north america. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBo4E77ZXo Anyone schooled up on this? I would tend to believe it at this stage. It is consistent with my beliefs of the ethics and motives of the powers in charge, but haven't researched it enough yet to know."When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
wildWilly 0 #2 May 11, 2008 Interesting video, but I think it will be a lot harder to accomplish than they portray. Not all people are going to be that easily convinced that this is a good idea. I know I don't and I would never support a candidate that did. And no one is going to stick a f.....g chip in my arm to keep track of my everyday life Willy growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. But Mexico - what's the upside for us? Same problem the EU faces with admitting countries in eastern Europe.

billvon 3,008 #13 May 12, 2008 >Of course I'm not for illegal immigration. That was sorta rhetorical; just an example of how it will be sold. >Still no one is going to stick any kind of chip in my arm. I think it will happen regardless. Some day you'll have diabetes, and your choice will be a blood glucose monitor and IM insulin or an implant. Or the choice will be dialysis or an implant. Or will be an alternative to whatever other medical intervention you need. Such things will pave the way for people to be less nervous about implants. tkhayes 348 #15 May 13, 2008 I have not been living in Canada for 12 years now, but I am still pretty sure that most Canadians would rather have their livers pulled out through their noses with a fork than become part of the USA. We appreciate the neighbors and all that, no one hates anyone, but we have no more interest in being American that we do in being Brazilian. We're Canadian - and that is pretty damn good. Now do I see someday when the USA invades and takes over Canada for its natural resources? Absolutely. It would be right in line with the imperialist movements that have gone on since WWII and further back than that. The USA has a global arrogance that Canadians do not want to be associated with. I can understand that, and i can understand why the US people would not like mexico to merge either, but if it means more money for the Rockerfellers/ world bank etc. then it will most likely happen. those super high rollers unfortunately have more clout than any govornment on this planet does. they own govornments, hold them by the balls and twist them to make more money. [snip] I kind of like my liver where it is!. However, other than a few individuals for their own reasons, there isnt any burning desire for Canadians to want to join the US of A. Economic Cooperation sure (and even that is touchy at times) but any political party who tried to win any seats on that platform would be winless at the polls. We are neighbors with the US and many Canadians have many friends in the US (especially the skydiving community). However the "I am Canadian" sentiment is very strong with the majority of Canadians and I, for one, will always be a "Canadian". This normally becomes appartent during US Election Years when some Canadian Institutions and things we take for granted are attacked by the various American Politions as herasy and "Socialist". (I laugh cause I am conservitive in my politics). While it may be electioneering politics, I never want to see the Canadian Systems being dismantled as they would enivitably under a political North American Union. We Europeans more and more do think as Europeans, even our roots tell us we're frogs, tommies, the boche's - you name it. Europe comes closer and closer together. Having a look at our youngsters, it clearly shows how easy they deal with various derivations - they do not even notice there are any. It's good like that. 30 yrs ago, a good German father would disposses his daugher if she'd fall in love with a Turkish man. Today, it's not even exotic to have a North American guy as a son-in-law, I mean an Inuit. F. e. That's the decline of racism, rather than a loss of national identity. As I said, try calling a Scot a Brit or English and then run for your life. And it may be a while before the neighbors of Germany completely forget about the past. Many were nervous when the two halves reunited, and will be until those born before 1950 all die off. chuteless 1 #22 May 14, 2008 This has been talked about for quite some time now. I sure wouldnt want Canada to become any part of a North American union. Canada has it far better than the USA, and I doubt there is any group wanting to blow Canada off the map like they want to do to the USA.
