Snowwhite 0 #1 June 5, 2008 A friend of mine lives four blocks from me on a major street with street lights. He woke up one morning last week and his retaining wall had been stolen. About a hundred concrete blocks. He called the cops, turned it into his homeowners insurance and a company came within a couple of days to reinstall the wall. Same night at 2 AM his wife is awakened by noise, and looks out of the window. A guy and a girl are out in the yard stealing the wall, loading it into a truck. His wife called the police, and come to find out, this couple were running a landscape business by stealing his landscaping.skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
AggieDave 6 #2 June 5, 2008 This is not that rare. People have been known to steal trees, stones, plants and *gasp* shrubberies! Basically anything and everything is stolen for various reasons. Its amazing to actually see what is stolen and finding out what there is a market for out there in the real world. Most people don't get it or understand it, but then again most people haven't seen that side of society up close and personal. My personal favorite for stupid thieves are the ones that try to steal the large copper plates used in the large electrical transfer stations. *zap* Its the largest damned Taser ever. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Snowwhite 0 #3 June 5, 2008 I guess it's the fact that they came back within a couple of days to steal the same wall all over again that amazes me. Heck, I wasn't really surprised when some idiot stole my dog house, but he didn't do it several days in a row. It's a lot of work to load those stones. People and their stupidity amaze me.skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

You'll be amazed until you talk to someone who has had the same sort of item stolen from their property or from their car more than a couple of times. You're only a victim or property crime once. After that you're naive.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
joedirt 0 #5 June 5, 2008 Having a wall stolen is naive? Do you rig yours with C4 and a pressure guage or do you post sentry's?

That sounds very close to the copper thief I posted pictures of being scraped off a power pole after trying to hacksaw something off. Got a nice 45 day banning from the Bonfire for it. Its much more spectacular. Look, if it happened once, it could happen again, so setting the wall with just even a small amount of rebar and concrete would have been easy on the rebuild. This could prevent someone from stealing your wall.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
