Right, but the accomplishments have been group accomplishments. Those happen all the time in Congress. I've never claimed otherwise. Are you unable to come up with individuals who accomplish things as individual in Congress, Vinny? QuoteFace facts - you're wrong. Then prove it Vinny. Give some examples of individuals, accomplishing things as an individual in Congress. QuoteYour defensive mechanism just doesn't stand up to even modest scrutiny. TheAnvil 0 #54 August 25, 2008 Bwaaaaaahahahaaaaaaaaaa! Groups, eh? McCain-Feingold and whom else for that bill, exactly? Whom else for Taft-Hartley? Wagner perchance? You claim that congressmen can accomplish nothing by themselves and that Congress as a group accomplishes things - you've stated this several times in the past. I've clearly shown you incorrect and just thrown a nice monkey wrench into your psychological defense mechanism you've devised to deal with an issue. Given your VERY limited knowledge of how gov't works, I shouldn't find this surprising, but one would hope you'd at least face facts sometime. Keep running from the facts as LOOOONG as you like. marks2065 0 #55 August 25, 2008 Obama has voted in favor of the war and to raise taxes several times. what bothers me about Obama is that he can't even get his own party to back him. he has wrote or cowrote several bills that have not gotten past his own party. If the Democrats in Illinois won't back him what makes anyone think that he can get things done in the whitehouse? I know Obama wants to put through several things that on the surfcae look good but after finding out about some of the details i think we would be in trouble. one is the 10 billion dollar preschool program that he says has been proven to work. preschool doesn't work for educating in most cases. Oklahoma has seen a decrease in test scores after putting in preschool programs. the countries with some of the best education programs in the world don't even start school until 6 or 7 years old. they fund more on the finishing school. I feel Obama has good intensions but not the experience or the knowledge to make the correct descisions that will give this country the best chance to improve. As some one pointed out earlier, Biden for vice president only points out his weaknesses and shows that he is not ready for the big chair. Maybe later on he will be ready but not now. I don't think that we can afford, as a country, to give Obama on the job training. Does anyone out there realy want Obama making descisions about Russia, China, India, or Pakastan with the track record he has?

I don't see anyone here, or in the previous thread saying that. So let's break it down, and we can be civil about it: 1) Matthews asked "what are some of BO's legislative accomplishments", not list some bills BO passed individually. 2) Plenty of the websites of state and federal legislators list their own "Legislative Accomplishments". They use that exact phrase and list work they did and bills they wrote, sponsored, advocated, etc. Are they wrong? Again, we're back to Matthews simply caught a BO supporter not knowing anything about what he did in the Senate.Ohne Liebe sind wir nichts
TheAnvil 0 #61 August 26, 2008 Ooooh so now it's not just the leadership and organization to get a bill through, it's got to be done individually in your book to count as an accomplishment, eh? BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA! Your psychological defense mechanism is at work in full force, I see. Read the Constitution and THIS time do it slowly so you understand a bit more. A better idea - in addition to reading the Constitution again (if you ever read it). Why don't you learn a bit about how Congress works and get back to us. Here - let's go on another route, and do try and keep up. Your good friend El Jefe Clintonista's compatriot - Senator Robert Byrd. He's known as the King of Pork because of his ability to get pork for WV into bills and signed into law. Whooooohooooo! Did he accomplish nothing? Those of us who don't have a mechanism preventing us from looking at facts know that the Senator HAS accomplished quite a bit in that realm! Yes, yes, it's not really a good thing, but an accomplishment it nonetheless is. Senator Byrd is not alone in achieving such a feat. Let's see if I can come up with another diddy to Old McDonald...that way you can sing about both Bubba Clinton's Surplus AND Senator Byrd's accomplishments to the same tune! Ahem...ahem..."Senator Byrd, got some earmarks.... Yes he surely did! He got them for West Virginia Oh yes he really did! With a highway here and a new bridge there Here a bridge there a building Everywhere some earmark $$ Senator Byrd got some earmarks! What an ACCOMPLISHMENT!!" I should be a songwriter or something. diverborg 0 #74 August 26, 2008 Although I view most of these items as good things, these are the few that both parties would usually agree on. I don't view many of congress's actions as accomplishments if it involves spending more money, going beyond our budget, and in the longterm increasing taxes. This I believe is the basis for what Obama will be pushing for in our country. Anybody can come up with a list of wonderful things in the name of change and hope that are only going to stretch our overspent budget even further. True accomplishment would be solving problems and cutting costs at the same time. Unfortunately, this isn't something we've seen from either party for a very long time. This country has way too many social programs in place already that have become a financial burden and a crutch for a huge portion of our society. Slowly wien the system of some of these programs and you'll start to see people taking a little more personal responsibility. Come visit the southeast for a little while and you'll see the problems that these programs have created. My only wish is that these people that never work and have all this free time to do nothing would at least take a little bit of time once in awhile to pick up the damn trash in their front yard, maybe my town would be a little prettier at least. First.. cut the income tax deduction for children for ANY MORE THAN TWO.... I am sick to death of supporting stupid people who cant or wont stop having children who can not support the children they have. Get real people... there are too many people on the planet already. Second... cut all current welfare programs except for the severely disabled. EVERYONE should have to support themselves.. period. There are plenty of jobs out there for those willing to work... and if there was no other option I BET a whole bunch of people would find the will all of a sudden. With that goes one new program.. documentation.... for ALL workers.. and if you do not have documents.. you do not work. If you own a business you also need to have documents...i.e. tax numbers. Those hiring undocumented workers, get JAIL TIME.. not fines. The immigration problem just got solved. EDITED to add a link.. Mr Howard should be in friggin JAIL...http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,410321,00.html There are very few people who can not perform SOME useful function in society. I also think education should be available to ALL. It makes us a better society to have educated members in lieu of dumb as dirt and proud of it morons and idiots.
