And McCains VP is Palin

Of course! She's truthy. That's how she knows creationism is true, and why she tried to have books banned in local libraries while she was mayor. Can't have books that disagree with your truthiness!

Yep, solar activity is indeed down; the latest sunspot cycle has taken unusually long to take off. Can we take this as a flip-flop on the "the sun is warming the planet" angle? Will this mean the end of the "Mars has smaller icecaps, so the sun must be doing it" crap?

you sound alot like a person that like the democrats but isn't thinking what the effect of Obama's policies will have. you are a no war no driling lets buy a hybred car type of person. I have no problems with people believing or thinking what they want if they are willing to look at the facts and reprocussions of the actions they want taken.

lets vote in Obama. tax cuts for the majority, higher taxes for the big companies, 10,000,000,000 preschool program for all kids, and cheap health care for all. this all sounds good but lets look at the cause and effect that will happen.

preschool for all at a cost of about 10,000,000,000.
paid for by who? the companies that will leave this country for cheaper labor? I think not. paid for by everybody.

Higher taxes for companies = less jobs, less raises, less benifits, and more labor going overseas. lets face it you make companies pay more they will raise prices on their product or go were it is cheaper and that isn't here! not to mention the stock of that companie will drop and that means your stock divendends will drop and you will have less money at retirement.(your retirement is in stocks and bonds right because you can't count on social security)
early estimate depending on Obama's time in office and programs he gets passed is 10-15 percent less money at retirement.

cheap health care for all = less pay for doctors = less doctors = less health care. just ask the canadians what the health care situation is up there. long lines for health care. hard to find good doctors because they leave the country for better pay. My brother is a doctor and he is deversifiing to make money elswhere for when we get a socialized health care program.

For somebody that tries to use facts to make a point this looks to be a little off even for you?

I had not even heard of the "book banning" claim until your post here. Done any research on this yourself? Understand (before you spin it) I do not yet know what is or is not true on this topic, but it reads like the pubic hair SC justice vetting at this point.

From Time:

================
Stein [previous mayer of Wasilla] says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

I read that. And that is the same story line for every article I could come up with. As I just modified my prior post to state. Currently this story resembles a Coke can pubic hair attempt at destroying a SC justice.

I guess my big red 4x4 diesel 3/4 ton is the choice of democrats nowB|

I do also have a commuter car.. a VW Beetle... but the 32' Century with twin 350's kinda makes up for the fuel savings in that wouldn’t you say???

I think we should drill...everywhere we can..how about your back yard...do you have the mineral rights?? Lets burn ALL of our resources and make sure the Arabs can bend you over when ever they feel like it. I think our resources are going to be FAR more valuable in the near future. Allowing short term gains that will line the pockets of people like Bush and Cheney and their friends in and out of their administration...personally I think they have managed to raid the treasury of the USA enough in the last few years.. thank you.

You worry about 10 billion for educating our young????

WHY hell several of Cheney’s friends companies have wasted FAR more than that EACH in war profiteering alone.

I have a VERY simple solution to multi nationals that want to do business in America, you do business here, you pay taxes here and you produce your products here. The trend of screwing America and Americans for short term profits needs to come to an end. You want to talk about national security???? Sending jobs and contracts overseas is a sure way to destroy America.

AS far as health care, there needs to be a system in this country where NO ONE is denied health care, NO ONE

In my mind, society is judged most harshly, by how it treats our least fortunate citizens. There are far too many people in this country who are uninsured or underinsured. If people are working, they need to have healthcare……. period…... to do any less reflects a failure of our country's constitution... to promote the general welfare....I think is somewhere in there.

Personally I do fairly well.... I could do very well in a dog eat dog country, just fine.. but do YOU want to live in such a society. Take what you can and fuck everyone else... it certainly seems there are a few of THOSE kind of elitist's here.

I dont see the doom and gloom coming that all of the fringe right is predicting...... unless we continue down the same path we have been on for the last 8 years... its not a sustainable economy...and there is no way we can sustain Mr Bush's excellent little adventure in Iraq for 4 more years.>:(>:(

I've been reading up on her and its seems like she's completely anti- choice (it that across all of her policies or just anti-abortion?).

What ever, doesn't that tend to make her un-democratic? I thought that America stands for less government intervention not more.

It's not un democratic to outlaw killing of babies, no matter how far along they are or how they were concieved.

Well now, that would depend upon the current legal definitions of Babies, Killing and Conception, wouldn't it?

actually, America was designed to be a loose collection of States that would determine most stuff on their own

so less "federal" government intervention with the states is likely most accurate

state's rights was supposed to reign

yes i would welcome an oil well in my back yard. Drilling won't solve problems but it will create jobs and keep money here to invest in alternatives.

As far as the preschool education goes it is a proven fact that in the countries that that have the best education programs don't start school until 6-7 years old and put the money on the finishing scool end when it does the most good. Oklahoma has instituted a preschool program and has seen no increase in the test scores of the children in later years and some have seen a drop in scores on the ones that start early.

as far as health care goes, pay for it yourself i don't want to pay it for you. get a job or 2 if you have to, just like i did. welfare is an excuse to be lazy. it should be used to suplement someone temporarily not support them. it should also have a time limit to collect, after that owell starve if you can't help yourself. this may sound harsh but i am tired of paying for lazy people. to promote general welfare does not mean bust my ass to make it easy for someone else. to me it means help those who help themselves, and only those who are trying to help themselves.

As far as tax the companies more well i own a company and i pass every increase right to you the consumer. not because I want to but because i will no go out of business nor will i put myself into a money crunch to make it easier on the public.

as far as Mr Bush's little adventure, I am glad we are there instead of them over here and i am more than willing to pay extra for that. Do I like war, no but if it has to be let it be there not here. I have several customers that have fought in Iraq and not one of them bad mouths Bush and everyone agrees with what we are doing over there, even the one that lost a leg. This might end up being a bad thing or a good thing but only time will tell and later in life we will see what the end result of the war is. The large problem isn't the war it is oil and imigration, these are costing multiple times more than the war is or ever will.

What % of the federal budget goes to support those who won't support themselves (as opposed to can't, or are temporarily unable for various reasons).

What evidence is there that without invading Iraq that we would have had any more trouble "over here"?

How are you defining "experience"? Why should time on the city council of Wasilla count as a qualifcation for President of the US, but not time as a civil rights attorney or constitutional law professor?

How about actually running organizations from an elected position?

And lets not forget that Palin is running for VP, Obama is running for the top spot.

Quote

Do you think experience is the only relevant factor, or should education also be considered?

That is a great question. I think that it all should be considered. However, when presented with an education, or actually results from work experience, I lean more on actual proven ability, not theoretical ability.

Please don’t think I don’t think Obama is an accomplished person. I just do not understand how:

1. He can claim that experience should not matter, and then nominate a guy that has been in Washington longer than his opponent.

2. His supporters want to claim that McCain’s VP pick is not experienced enough, but in reality if she is less experienced than Obama, it is not by much.

So if you want to claim that Palin is not experienced enough…then that would also mean that Obama is not experienced enough.

If the tickets were Palin/McCain vs. Obama/Biden…The experience argument would not have merit IMO.

But we have a very experienced Senator running for office vs. a much less experienced Senator…. Yet some people want to make an issue of the VP’s experience level and make it an issue?

Okay. Time for some Palin pictures.

Not quite as hot as Skymama, but getting warm
I dig the hot librarian look
WOW! In college, I also had 34 B's (NSFW)
Okay. But Skymama is STILL hotter.

Are you trying to suggest that John McCain has gone back to his TAILHOOK roots...... and was thinking with the little head instead of the big head when he made his choice.

He certainly has done that in the past.... and he certainly isn't the only one that is thinking like that.. now is he.

Now, Jeanne, this is a sign of respect. I am busily looking forward to listening to watching the honorable governor give her speech tomorrow evening from St. Paul (I hope it's nice and cold there).

We haven't had this kind of hotness on the campaign trail since Clinton, Gore and Stephanopoulis.

I just reckoned that her hotness (NOT, I repeat NOT "HER HOTNESS" the proper noun referring to the gracious, lovely and hot Skymama) should be brought out in the open for all to see so we can get it over with.

I'll be riveted by her discussion of policy, etc. I cannot determine whether she is as hot as Dr. Amy Mainzer - perhaps the hottest woman on the planet (and, as the gentleman and scholar ryoder pointed out, is one kinky chick into things like brown dwarves).

I haven't heard her speak. I wonder if she'll have an accent. I picture her sounding straight out of "Fargo." Ya know, ya?

I'm an Obama supporter and have not said that Palin is not experienced enough for the job. What I've said is that with his pick, McCain has conceded his argument that Obama is too inexperienced. I'm also not a huge fan of the Biden pick, but understand that is was simply a concession to the "not experienced enough" arguments. Now, the two tickets are comparably experienced, so let's move on to other issues.

FWIW - There's no way of knowing, but I'd venture a guess that if Obama hadn't countered the experience argument with Biden, McCain wouldn't have picked Palin. It was a serve-volley-return sort of exchange, and the play is now Obama's to make or miss.
