shropshire 0 #77 September 4, 2008 She came across as intelligent and articulate but to European ears that kind of "political" speech is rather grating and brash - "I'm going to DC to serve you" - [pass me a bucket]. Cultural differences not withstanding, she did an O.K job but couldn't fail with the audience that was present. (.)Y(.) Gawain 0 #79 September 4, 2008 Quote Tearjerking references to McCain in prison and how prison experience will help run the country. She said he's the only person running who has actually fought for the country. true. she said the Presidency is not a place for exploring yourself (or something to that effect) true. she said being a prisoner built the kind of character we need in a leader. true. That one caught me too, I liked it, her rib at Sen. Obama was, "The American Presidency is not supposed to be a journey of personal discovery." Good stuff. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! BillyVance 34 #80 September 4, 2008 I have to admit, I liked her speech. Very good orator. I probably would have liked to see her speak more about the issues at hand, but she IS the VP candidate. It's McCain's job to talk about the issues. But come on, as cute as her kids are, did they have to show her youngest daughter licking her hand and then rubbing her baby brother's hair a certain way? kallend 2,027 #83 September 4, 2008 Quote She definitely impressed me. As a VP nominee, she earmarks everything Obama is not. Well, earmarks seem to be a strongpoint with her. Palin requested $198 million in earmarks for Alaska in next year's federal budget, which includes $25 million for Coastal Salmon Recovery and $3.2 million for sea lion biological research. And then she took the "Bridge to Nowhere" money too.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

He agrees with Bush only 95% of the time, instead of 100%. the number i've heard is 90%, but i've also heard (haven't checked the numbers myself) is that about 90% of votes are unanimous or near unanimous, so that puts obama and mccain in agreement 90 of the time as well. I vote to let another party have a shot at it. I do like Palin, but am so sick of the Repubs eletist, self centered bull shi%$# ! Sorry, but look at our economical position and our world standing and tell me you can justify another 4-8 years of this crap. if you think that mccain is the same as bush, then you've bought into the bullshit. mccain is about as different from bush as you can get and still have as "r" next to your name. 90% the same isn't much different. SkyDekker 1,465 #91 September 4, 2008 I think she gave a great speech, very entertaining. Also light on substance, but I guess that isn't her job. To me the moments that will stand out the most are: Her pregnant daughter holding hands with her "boyfriend". It was so constant that some one must have told them to hold hands on not let go. The guy also had this constant look on his face.....the look of, fuck I don't want to be here....should have pulled out sooner. The second moment I will remember is how incredibly stiff McCain looked when he came on stage. He was walking around like some one had shoved a broomstick up his ass. Now the reason I will remember those two things mostly, is because she didn't bring any substance into her speech, so there is nothing of substance to discuss either.
