For a presidential or senatorial election, do you really think people are drawn to beauty?

Absolutely. Sex sells. Dumb, pretty people are almost always more popular than ugly smart people. Unfortunately, our elections are glorified popularity contests.

OTOH, I've heard that many ladies find Obama as easy on the eyes as many guys find Palin to be, so the effect won't be one sided.

The second moment I will remember is how incredibly stiff McCain looked when he came on stage. He was walking around like some one had shoved a broomstick up his ass.

What part of "tortured as a POW and medical attention denied by Viet Cong when captured" did you miss? I figure he has some lingering physical limitations from that experience.

>she's not qualified to be VP but Obama is qualified to be POTUS?

As I mentioned, if McCain survives to age 76, she could indeed be qualified to be VP. Now we just have to get someone to tell her what the job entails.

and out the gate, that would be the same for Obama should he win. (this comment directed at comparing Palin and Obama)

It remains to be seen how well she will speak unrehearsed and without a teleprompter.

Yes, I agree

I am looking forward to her debates with Biden. He is a known, she is an unknown

He has some extreme lingering physical effects

He was subjected to rope bindings and repeated beatings every two hours, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery.[32][43] Further injuries led to the beginning of a suicide attempt, which was stopped by guards.[32] After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession".[32] He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine."[44][45] His injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head.[46] He subsequently received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal to sign additional statements.[47] Other American POWs were similarly tortured and maltreated in order to extract "confessions" and propaganda statements.[48]

Somehow that's not good enough to wear the label of patriot and talk about being one.

I want to believe that substance will carry, but in reality, probably naive.

So we're also run by the Viet Cong then :o, or McSame's answer is to make medical attention exclusive. Sounds like he learned a thing or two over there. ;)

He's got 35 years, she has none (governors don't argue issues as legislators do).

and at least McCain voted. i personally feel Obama didn't vote on alot of things so it wouldn't come back at him in the election. shows he has no faith in his choices. he is afraid of what people would say if he actually made a choice. Obama has no trac record we can follow to understand his thought or feelings on the issues so we realy don't know what he is going to do if he becomes president.

not all of bushes decissions were bad and most of his choises were voted in by both rep and dems. Mccain didn't vote with Bush 10% of the time which means he isn't bush. It only take a few changes to change the outlook on a large number of issues. a couple small changes here or there makes huge difference when it gets to the people.

no one person or organization can make large changes, it was set up that way to balance power. Niether Obama nor Mcain can change things overnight it will take time, patience and influence to convince the other people in congress to swing things in a different direction and only Mccain has shown he can do that. Palin's speach and record has shown she can do it also. Obama has shown no ability to get things done and has no record to stand on other than he is popular.

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN

(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN
- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

I'm glad someone knows how to pull this stuff up because i don't. I did listen to Obama's & Palin's speeches and personally Obama scared the crap out of me. All i could think was who was going to pay for this shit? I really couldn't believe people got excited about his plans. sounded like something you would here from Russia. I wanted to vote republican just from his speech. I want alot of things but i want to earn them myself. I don't want government giving me things or giving my hard earned money to someone else for their little pet projects.

I know some things have to be run by the government and paid for by us but come on loosing 20-30 % of my retirement? I don't want to work till i'm 80 years old.

Palin's speech actually made me feel better because I didn't feel like i was going to pay for everything. she sold the jet, got rid of the cook, and stop the bridge project and put the money to better use. now that sounds like someone i want to make descissions for me.

I don't agree with everything on the McCain / Palin ticket but i feel alot better about it.

It is hard to believe, that in this day and age, with all the knowledge available to us, that people could be so shallow that they would believe this shit just because the currant president made some unpopular / bad choices.

but then again with the people that made bad choices in the housing market i guess they still haven't learned how to tell when they are getting cheated.

I think a HUGE part of being Pres is having the balls to make the unpopular choices, be they good or bad.
Bush has made mistakes, find me a pres that hasn't.
Bush sure was "right" to the general public until about 2 years ago...hmmm...I wonder what happened???

The same people that currently pay about 700 billion a year for the military and the war; the debt.

Yea, greed is an American thing, I agree.

I just need to find someone to extract the smoke outta my ass that Obama blew...unless he has a magic wand, I just don't see how it's possible for him to do the things he says.
All flash, no substance.

Clinton did many things he claimed he would do with teh government. Truthfully, so did Bush; he only lied about the entry into Iraq, other than that he delivered as promised.

Fixed the first part.

People made bad choices? No, the depleted interest rate is what led to the mortgage meltdown. Why were the interest rate so low so long? The fed uses that to stimulate the economy, but Bush's policies had depleted that so much that even 5% interest couldn't help.

Clinton drained us over his term. By the end many people had very little left to make it though 911. The companies like Enron and Tyco already were bankrupt when bush took office they had nothing left to survive 911. Clinton balanced the buget on our backs and drained our savings to do it. my pay and bring home pay shrunk each year clinton was in office. I have had an increase each year Bush has been there.
