Is this who you want as our First Lady?

One can't do anything but talk to her husband; the other could do a lot of damage.

When that "Husband" happens to be the President.. Either could do alot of damage.

Which do you think would have more real influence on a sitting president?? The VP or The First Lady?

Donno. BUT. Me thinks Laura and DICK really caused A LOT of trouble between the two of them.
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;

Gee whiz Quade...I can't remember, are you married? I'm guessing no... :D:D:D

For longer than some of the people posting in this thread have been alive.

Well then, there it is. ;)
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

>They ALL have the potential to do a lot of damage.

You really think the wife (or husband) of a president can do as much damage as a president? If that's the case, you have an even bigger problem with Palin, whose husband was a registered member of a secessionist party.

Why are you Republicans people so desperate that you have to resort to attacking someone's spouse?

Because it is not "desperate" to question such a potential radical mindset of someone who may be in a position to have influence on the next President of the United States and how we are viewed as a country.
Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!

Yet you can support a ticket that has exactly that...not just influence.. but actually BE the President.:S:S

The thought of a President Palin scares me to fuckin death.

Do you think having the views that Michelle does will reflect positively on our country?

Do you think the views that Bush & Cheney have reflect positively on our country ?

Or the views of a madwoman from Alaska who can't wait to go to war with Russia before she's even (hopefull never) elected ?

Or are you just upset to see in print what's on the minds of a lot of educated black women in their younger idealistic years ?

Shh....don't attempt to infuse reason or rational thought into any conservative effort.
I could never run for president or be First Gentleman because I'd probably put a bit more emphasis on the indigenous population than Michelle Obama might put on the black population.

Nope, but that was not the question that you have not answered was it?

It's a BA thesis for goodness sakes. Written by a 21 year old just 2 decades after most blacks were grudgingly (and at the cost of many of their lives) given the right to vote.

Would YOU like to be held accountable for the all the things YOU said and did when you were 21?

You really are running scared.

John McCain has proven he puts his country first. Has Barack???

there are several million people who put their country first -- including both candidates.

This is a largely trivial necessary condition -- but very far from a sufficient one for being an effective chief executive.

I damn sure better be held accountable if I were going to be in the white house. As I said before, if Michelle’s thesis was the only thing then maybe I could buy it, but with the "I am finally proud to be an American" and going to Rev. Wright's church for 20 years, it only reinforces my concern.

Absolutely, as I have said in other post the thought of Obama as our commander in chief scares the hell out of me.

statiscally, if the Republican ticket gets nominated, you have a MUCH better chance that Palin will be the President than vice versa. And it is only partly about age. McCain is older, AND he is fair-skinned Irish, AND he has previously been diagnosed with dangerous skin cancer ( which people of Irish descent are often more prone to). My Dad is of the same ancestry, and has had to get stuff removed from his chest. Fortunately, it was stuff of the more benign variety than the tumors that McCain has had to get removed.

My Dad's doctor friends believe that given McCain's age, his cancer history, his Vietnam history, and his ancestry ( Irish don't take sun so well), it is quite likely that he might kick the bucket during his first term if he is elected, and the we'd get this un-experienced & creationist evangelist as our president.

Did you like the last 8 years???

Well, welcome to a more hardcore, religious-fundamentalist version of the same!!

Actually, as dumb as GWB is, I'm not sure he didn't know that if a NATO country is attacked, the US is obligated to respond.

Sarah Palin, in her first actual and unscripted interview since becoming the VP nominee, the one done by softball pitcher for ABC, Charlie Gibson, didn't realize this not too subtle point of international relations.

Yet, she maintains she's willing to step into the Oval Office and take a seat if anything should happen to McCain.

It is nice to see her back peddling on somethings though, like, all that talk about the war in Iraq being God's will. She tried to explain it away as quoting Lincoln, but if that's true, she certainly did butcher the quote. In fact, what she said sounds nothing like the quote she says she was trying to use at all.

> But Bill, please tell us your answer as to the original post and question.

Who do I want as a first lady? Ideally, Val Long. She'd keep any president on his toes and inject some common sense into politics. Barring that, I'd take Michelle Obama over Cindy McCain (and especially over Todd Palin.)

Did you also realize that she didn't seem to want to answer if she agreed with "The Bush Doctrine" as well... First she didn't seem to know what it meant, then when Gibson educated her she didn't respond with an answer. :S

Not only Palin should answer this question, but all the candidates as well.

A quote from Michelle Obama's thesis:

"There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost."

Last time I checked, the word "was" indicated past tense.

Blues,
Dave

And the last time *I* looked, "am" and "will" indicate present tense, not to mention the phrase "present and future resources" - your point being?

Do a search for the terms Laura Bush, Barbara Bush and Nancy Reagan and tell me who the people posting about them are.

I hear she's going to reactivate that secret tunnel that Jack Kennedy had built between the White House and the Vatican.

Ah, but you're probably right. She's a Negro first, and an American maybe second.

By her own admission!

But, I think you have the terminology wrong; they prefer to refer to themselves as "nigga." :| Not "negro."

Believe me. I saw two black women and a hispanic one all calling each other "nigga" on line at Walmart last night. Swear.

I just read a thread about Republicans and racism, is this an example?

Also, aren't you the guy that refused to further address my post due to me hurting your feelings with stuff like this? Good to see you've changed.
