Palin already "above the law"

It implies a lack of intelligence...ok, wait, do you seriously not get it? Whens the last time you took a sexual harassment class?

A couple weeks ago. I am lots of things, but unintelligent isn't rarely one of them. I think "Barbie" comparisons became reasonable when the subject chose to participate in beauty pageants.

I disagree! Just as I wouldn't use "porch monkey" or some other offensive term to describe Obama, I wouldn't use a "barbie" term to describe Palin.

There are more effective ways of communicating with out being offensive. This does show a general problem with our society in the US, though. Its even worst with the middle class and if you're white and male. Its "ok" to be offensive to certain groups, but a serious socially wrong if you're offensive to another group.

I understand that people will be rude and offensive to something or someone they fear, but it still doesn't make it right.

Note there is a difference between mocking the way a person was born and mocking the actions a person takes. Black is how Obama was born. Female is how Palin was born. "Barbie" refers to actions Palin took (entering beauty pageants and achieving success on the basis of her looks). Nobody here ever called Hillary "Legal Barbie" because she never tried to draw attention to her looks (for obvious reasons).

I read to this "Caribou Barbie's and stopped.

Your disrespect for those with whom you do not agree with is obvious and disgusting

Its not just with those whom he does not agree. These sorts of comments go deeper and into the heart of the problem, which would be a disrespect for women.

Its on the same level as using racial slurs in regards to Obama.

Either way, its disgusting from both sides of the political isle in regards to both persons.

Why is "Caribou Barbie" offensive? She's a beauty pageant queen with a degree in journalism who worked as a television sports reporter before becoming mayor of a small Alaskan town. It seems to me perfectly reasonable to comment on her appearance, given that it's been a significant factor in her success.

Do you think it was meant with respect?

Of course not, but I also don't think it was any less respectful than Mike Neal's "sunshine rays of HopeChange (tm)" or your insistence on referencing Obama's middle name.

Wait a second. Monegan says nobody "direectly" pressured him but he felt pressured to fire him. How is that? Isn't that like saying, "None of the instrument told me I was climbing. But I felt like I was climbing.". That sounds to me like post hoc sour grapes.

Of course, claiming that Obama operatives are managing it is a bit out there. I think it's a big mistake to make it bigger than it really is.

P.s. And they keep going after Palin while McCain is building ground...

Well, your HR will have hell with you, since you don't get it. Don't let them know or you'll end up in endless PC classes.;)

I'll worry about that when my company starts giving out promotions on the basis of where one places in the bikini contest. ;)

That conclusion is funny as hell. I am pro choice. I believe in equal pay for equal work, among many other things that are completely the opposite of your conclusion. By golly, I even support women's suffrage!!! ;-)

I have no respect for Caribou Barbie and the folks that put her in over her head. They did a shitty job of vetting her. She has been a crappy mayor and a worse governor. She is a flip-flopping liar. The rescums are pandering to the lowest of the low. And you suckers swallow the bait hook line and sinker.

I am beginning to think that long term, the best result that could happen to the dumbasses that are supporting McClone/Caribou Barbie would be that they DO win the election. When your nose is ground into a pile of shit long enough, hopefully you get a clue. Apparently, eight years isn't enough. They want at least four more of the same.

If you don't think she'll do a good job, then explain your position and opinion. Name calling only shows a level of immaturity and lack of education; it at least makes it appear that way and if you had a valid point, its now lost.

Obama used his name on purpose Oct 16 2007 saying that his name shows change and besides, my using his middle name was in directl response to PC type posts showing the hypocrsy of those posts.

I dont know about the other item you post but, those who constantly use Shrub, Limjob, McSame are looking down their noses trying to insult any who support them. It is idiotic and disgusting. I will no longer read any posts once an isults like those are used and I am going to call the idiots out that use them. And yes, if I slip I need to be called out as well.

You may not want to waste your time. This type of emotional look down their nose at anybody who cant see what they see the way they see it arrogance is sad and revealing....... You and I both know they think they are smarter than anybody else (with whom they do not agree)

So that's why she was elected governor or do you think that she has any other merits?

I think her appearance was certainly a big factor. For more on the Barbie comparison, do you know what she named her kids? Piper (!), Willow, Bristol, Track, and Trig. If I remember correctly, there actually is a Barbie doll named Piper

I'm just glad there's no bikini contest in politics, although I'm sure Ted Kennedy would look *great*.:D

We most certainly agree there! Can you imagine what Larry Craig would do? B|:D

According to this article in the Anchorage Daily News back in July, Wooten is/was still a cop. It also quotes Palin's spokeswoman as saying Frank Bailey never had a conversation with Monegan pressuring him to fire Wooten. We now know that was false.

I'm not so sure. There is a recording of the conversation between Bailey and one of Monegan's underlings. I believe that there was no recorded conversation between Bailey and Monegan directly, but not sure on that one. The recorded conversation (you can find it on the web) starts off with a discussion of Union negotiations and then Bailey mentions that they are concerned about the Wooten's behavior. If that's all they have, it is pretty lame. There's a lot more to this story than just "you're fired because you didn't fire my ex BrotherInLaw." Monegan bucked her on other issues, including budget, and she fired him. Perfectly within her right. If Wooten was a model cop and she wanted him fired because of family ties, it would be different. But its not. Much ado about nothing.

Wooten is still a cop.
The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Uh oh. Now you've done it. Here's the next spin:

BREAKING NEWS!!! Nepotism at Work - Drunken Carousing Cop keeps Job because of Personal Ties with Governor.

Citizens and politicians alike are expressing concern that an Alaska police trooper, with a history or personal and professional misconduct, is still employed by the department. A source speaking on the condition of anonymity states, "What do you expect? He's the ex brother-in-law of the Governor.

Said one source, "I was never directly pressured to let him keep his job. But I did feel pressure to keep him."

Come on, righties.
Point me to something that corraborates Palin's claim that her father got a death threat from FBIL.

If you can't find any validation of her story, it is likely that she isn't being entirely truthful. In other words, she might be lying.

Quote

Does anyone have a link to any information that supports Caribou Barbie's claim that her former brother in law threatened her father. The sentence in the CNN story reads>>>

The e-mails, which were released to reporters, show that Palin reported to Monegan that Wooten threatened her father.

<<<

She says he did. He (FBIL)says he didn't. Just because she says something doesn't make it true.

Funny how Rs refuse to cooperate with investigations.
To use the same line of reasoning righties use regarding warrantless wiretapping, etc, etc, if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. If she has nothing to hide, and really believes in transparent government, why doesn't she cut loose all of the email and cooperate with the investigation?

Rs certainly expect that kind of cooperation from Ds when they are doing the investigating...

Both R's and D's have a history of refusing to cooperate. Note that the Lewinsky matter was the result of B's refusal to cooperate with investigation.

BC was actually sanctioned about $90k for dishonesty, the amount being the money spent getting the information that BC should have just given in his deposition.

Both parties are filled with human beings, and it is human nature to defend yourself or to take steps to ensure that your enemies don't take you down.

It isn't an R or D thing.
