And here's a big hug for you: >>>>>>>>>
 SpeedRacer 1 #62 September 19, 2008 QuoteThe reason is that it actually takes a great deal of commitment and belief in your views to admit to being an atheist in public. This is what people say, but not what I have experienced personally. The vast majority of my friends are either atheists, or are simply people who don't "do religion" and don't feel the need to discuss it. But in terms of Christians who are angry & judgemental about atheists/agnostics vs. atheists/agnostics who are angry & judgemental about Christians, in my experience, the LATTER is far more prevalent than the FORMER. I challenge you to count the number of posts in this forum by atheists bitching about Christians rather than the other way around. There are a LOT of angry, dour, judgemental atheists out there, which is ironic, since they complain that the Christians are the same way. But, as has been pointed out before, I believe the majority of atheists as well as believers simply go about their business & let others go about theirs. It's the loudmouth assholes on both sides that draw the most attention, so that it seems as though there's more of them. Agreed, same as right and left in politics, its the mouthy ones that suck at life... ok that may be a little harsh. Being an atheist though, I'll say that it's very frustrating to hear people talk so openly in public about God or whatever higher power influencing specific aspects of lives when we feel it is something clearly scientific. We don't ramble on TV or in public thanking Darwin or science for highly evolved athleticism, or that after a battle the bullet's trajectory missed the artery by a millimeter, etc. To us, it is hard work and luck or training to react appropriately. That's a very basic and brief statement as this debate ultimately goes on without end. Anyway, i ultimately feel to each their own and I keep my mouth shut unless people ask how I feel on the matter. More often than not I reply that I am an atheist, and then I get judged immediately and the subject is dropped.
