superstu 0 #52 October 3, 2008 Bottom line is we have serious problems here in the US spanning all sorts of issues and we need serious people. McCain is a great candidate but the fact is if he dies while in office, which is very possible, we now have someone who is just an average "joe six pack" and that just doesn't cut it. To be president and vice president you need to be a cut above and Palin with her winking at the camera and "folksy" talk is not that. If McCain had picked anyone else i'd probably go with McCain, but for the good of ourselves, families, and country I cannot go in that direction. And as far as the debat goes, I think the only reason why the general public think Palin might have won is because she didn't fall flat on her face and she did speak well, only thing was she never spoke or answered the question at hand.Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
Darius11 12 #53 October 3, 2008 Unfortunately I think about half the population is mentally retarded. I really mean that, and I am sick of trying to be nice. We have people who mention she is hot or a MILF sorry a GILF as a reason they like her. It’s sad and very frustrating, but I started losing hope when GWB won the 2nd time, and now with this bail out or fuck the tax payer bill I am seriously in shock of what is happening to America.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

rushmc 23 #56 October 3, 2008 QuoteWhat I found interesting (funny?) was the results of some of the networks questions as to who won the debate last night. On screen last night FoxNews had Palin winning the debate at 88%. MSNBC was lopsided for Biden at about the same numbers. Here are the final numbers from some of the larger firms, I'm not sure what caused the results to change for Fox. CNN/Opinion Research Biden 51 Palin 36 CBS Biden 46 Palin 21 Fox Biden 61 Palin 39 From a pure debate pespective I think it would be hard to support saying Palin won. Rstanley0312 1 #58 October 3, 2008 I just want to state a few things.... many have said Palin is stupid or scary.... I say she is the only one that has not been corrupted and polished by Washington. I liked McCain in 2000 but Bush attacked him and ended up winning the nod. McCain now is not the McCain I liked so much in 2000 though. Obama and Biden are typical sleezy Washington scum! THEY ARE LAWYERS!! Washington needs less lawyers and more leaders. Obama, McCain, and Biden all spew talking points and none of them actually say how they are going to accomplish what they say they will do. Palin did keep bringing up talking points but its because that is what is expected.... we do not need far left or far right in office. We need someone who will accomplish goals with the help of the other side. Obama is a socialist and I cannot believe people are not listening to him. They are simply voting for him because he is the opposite of Bush. His campaign has done a great job of making McCain out to be 4 more years of Bush but that is just not true. I want a candidate that can win on their own merits, what they believe, and their track record. Not because they are black, the opposite party we have had in office, or speaks better in a debate because they have court experience. With that said I also think McCain is probably not the answer either. I cannot believe this but I don't even know if there is a lesser of two evils in this case. Bottom line is Palin is not the usual and honestly that is what we need..... too bad not many see that and too bad she is just the VP pick. I'm not saying she is perfect but she has done more in leadership roles and working with the other party than any of them.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. Shotgun 1 #62 October 3, 2008 Quote Palin wants to call him JOE!???. as if he's the local butcher, or Mailman??THAT line sounded,, awfully Coached.... and inserted as a quick jab. to start her off on a positive...literally putting Him in an awkward spot.... i so would have enjoyed it,, if Biden had responded... "NO... please call me Senator"... since he's earned that title... Nah, that would have looked bad on his part. I think he did a great job of brushing off all of her little tactics like that. He just seemed to be amused, which made him look better than if he would have let her get to him.

chaoskitty 0 #69 October 3, 2008 What I like most about Palin is that she is, admittedly and proudly, not part of the Washington "machine". I was surprised to hear Bidin admit that he'd changed on some issues depending on his political standing. Good for him for being honest. Joe Bidin also said that as VP he would give Obama his best advice, but its his job to support Obama, and he is not the President, Obama is. To me, thats like saying "I'm not fucking this cat, I'm just holding the tail". Palin's cheesy lines, "Joe Six Pack" and "golly gee", are just part of her personality. Heaven forbid a government official have any sort of personality.

Most of us do that every day. >Quit changing his political stance on issues. Again, I think everyone changes their political stance on issues as times change (and as they change.) Someone who has the exact same political stance when they came out of college vs. when they were running for VP would worry me. I'd much rather hear a politician say "you know, I've changed my mind" than have them try to rewrite history to claim they never supported that, or contort their position so it doesn't seem like too much of a change. downwardspiral 0 #73 October 3, 2008 Quote Quote Quote You're right - success for Palin was that she didn't disintegrate on camera. That has become the key to politics in America. Set the standard so low that when you occasionally do not fuck up it seems like a miracle, and everyone wants to celebrate. This is what bugs me. The fact is that there are smart candidates out there. But what so many people want is someone who isn't too smart. Because that would make them an "elitist." People are so overly obsessed with the candidate being folksy & someone you'd want to have a beer with, that what you sometimes get are candidates who are just at the bare minimum intelligence level for the job. In order to get elected, you have to cater to anti-intellectualism. I think the mistake you're making is equating joe-six pack with being anti-intellectual. To say Palin is stupid is ridiculous considering she went from PTA member to Governor in 10 years. People see a person who is one of them as someone who understands who the people are. We see it in all walks of life. We will always have a special bond with someone who is like us whether they're another skydiver, rider, veteran, or law school grad. That being said, I will agree Palin is not well informed. However, that can be fixed and likely will be IF she decides, win or lose, she wants to goto or remain in Washington D.C. Besides look at where we are today as a country. We can point blame at Bush, the republicans, or the dems all we want but the fact of the matter is the intellectual elite got us where we are today. AND that is nothing for THEM to brag about. I can now admit Palin is not ready to be President but I feel the same way about Obama. I do hope Palin learns from the entire experience, hits the books, and returns years later with the intent of fixing Washington because Washington has let us down.www.FourWheelerHB.com
billvon 3,006 #74 October 3, 2008 > To say Palin is stupid . . . He didn't say Palin was stupid. > but the fact of the matter is the intellectual elite got us where we are today. True. In 1787, the intellectual elite of the country wrote us a pretty important document, one we still abide by. In 1791 they added a very important bill to it. They have given us airplanes, spacecraft, the Internet, lasers, transistors, telephones and lightbulbs. They've given us vaccines, surgery, roads and cars from model-T's to the Tesla. Without them you wouldn't be able to waste hours of time here posting, nor be able to decide to skydive instead. We owe them quite a bit; they have indeed gotten us to where we are today.
