California, Short of Cash, May Ask U.S. for Loan

Recommended Posts

Doesn't matter mate. How much yer after? Pay'us back when yer can.;)

edit: The headline did make me laugh though; 'California, Short of Cash, May Ask U.S. for Loan'.

Last time I laughed that much was recently when I had a fright sat in an airport bar having a drink. A Muslim ran in, saying;

'AllahAllahAllahAllahA'll have a coke and a packet of nuts!'

:D

Stuttering dickhead.

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Like I said earlier. May as well jump on the bandwagon while the printing presses are still hot. BUT. Where's mine? [:/]
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Until we get leaders who will continuously do the right thing on a daily basis with regards to spending - it will not.

We need a series of strong leaders who will place EVERYTHING on the table for spending cuts and elimination and then have the courage to actually see what we can afford and act upon that. Everything has to be on the table for consideration or its worthless. From CERS/FERS to VA benefits to foreign aid to federally funded research to military retirement to medicare to bailout-bullshit to road programs to defense acquisition programs to social security. Everything. I can't think of any of the aforementioned (other than bailout bullshit) that woldn't be very, very painful - emotionally, fiscally, and politically - to deal with. Even an analysis of cuts or reductions would cause INTENSE public outcry on some. We've seen fairly disciplined and intelligent people make absolute IDIOTS of themselves on here discussing such things. Yet it has to be done or we continue down this absurd path of spending.

Discretionary spending HAS to both be reduced and become less DoD centric. Entitlement spending has to be reformed - which means cuts, like it or not.

We need leaders who will do that. Leaders with the courage to do the right thing even if it is unpopular and ensures they're not reelected. They probably won't be more than one term in office - but such leaders are sorely needed. You won't find them promising to socialize medicine or expand current entitlement spending, thats for sure.

Indeed. We've seen where fiscal prudence has gotten us. But you bring up an interesting thought - our govt is so messed up, and attempt at fiscal imprudence has a damned good chance at backfiring.

thus, instead of fiscally irresponsible health care that works, we'll have fiscally responsible healthcare that doesn't.

And, as stated above, we are already socialized.

The floodgates are open, prepare to drown in debt. Auto, Bank, Mortgage, States, etc, etc.

Where's the bailout for Al-Qaeda? I hear they need cash, too.

Hmmmmm, I wonder if any old-school USSR guys are laughing at, "our wall" falling?
