He's saying everyone should have healthcare so they can go to their regular doctor and get medication, etc. It came off as weird at first to me too, but when you think it thru it's merely his way of saying those w/o medical care use the emergency room as tehir regular care as their dying, rather than have preventative regular care. I have obviously not seen the debate, but that's how i read the OPs quote. Anti Obamans will read into what he says to better suit their current judgment of him, same is true of McCainians. it saves then from thinking critically and helps self validation for their own choicesYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! Coreece 190 #20 October 8, 2008 I felt it was pretty obvious that Obama was talking about "preventative maintenance" when it comes to health issues. I was blessed enough to have both an excellent pediatrician and insurance plan that was able to diagnose my asthma before it became a serious risk and was provided the tools necessary to deal with an attack without going to the ER. Perhaps it is those that harbor this deliberate unwillingness to understand the candidates statements who are "clueless."Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... drdive 0 #23 October 8, 2008 Oh no, I understood where he is coming from. He is CLUELESS. Spend a night with me treating people who can't breath through no fault of their own. Yes, i admit it is easy to take a gaff and blow it up out of proportion. But as Ron White says, "you can't fix stupid" Getting away from his stupid comment, there are lots of things I don't like about our health care system, I just don't want him being the one telling you and me how to fix them. Right, but you can perform preventative maintenance on it and TRY to curtail attacks via medication, sprays, etc. I think that's what he meant. Asthma is treatable, of course yo0u can still have attacks that require ER attention.
