kallend 2,026 #151 October 26, 2008 QuoteQuoteQuoteSo you don't think it's just a joke and you need to lighten up?No, I don't think any hate crime, murder or robbery is a joke. What do you think is so funny about someone being robbed, murdered and carved on? I doubt if YOU had been either victim you would be saying "It's just a joke and you need to lighten up." So stealing Obama signs or spraypainting "nigger" on them or insinuating Obama is a fried chicken & watermelon eating, food stamp spending motherfucker is just a joke, carving "B" in someone's cheek is a hate crime, and the line is somewhere in between. Why do I suspect you put it right in between (D) and (R)? Blues, Dave I got the attached in a chain email this morning, with the subject line "Plot to kidnap presidential candidate discovered". I know the man who forwarded it - he is a die-hard Republican and McCain supporter.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. jakee 1,489 #152 October 26, 2008 Quote Obama Inciting Violence and Hate Against McCain Oh nice article. So Obama said McCain was "risky" and "erratic" did he? How deliciously evil of him! "Inciting violence" my hairy arse. Quote - Speaking of which.... jakee, from someone that isn't open about who he is - no profile, Excuse me? Last time I checked this was a skydiving website, and my profile contains my skydiving experience, my skydiving preferences and the name of the DZ at which I usually skydive. Furthermore, people who I skydive with and who frequent this site know who I am. So really, "No profile?" Get real. Quote you seem quite angry that I don't hold your same political stance Not at all. I'm bemused that you think this particular incident shows Obama in a bad light, and I'm annoyed about the tactics you're using to frantically try and defend your position. Quote Where have I "deliberately misinterpret"ed your position? You asked me to show how the incident makes Obama look GOOD [sic], when I'd made it painfully obvious that I thought it didn't reflect on him in any way at all. Quote Which direct questions did I not answer... my last reply to you included post #'s for reference even. Just because you provided references doesn't mean you're answering questions. That's pretty basic logic! As to which questions, You haven't shown how Obama's comment was a cause of the incident. You haven't elaborated on which "policies" led to which "events" that led to this incident. You haven't said if the hatred of the KKK makes black people look bad, or if the hatred of a rapist makes his victim look bad. And those are just my questions! Quote Are you just resorting to attacks now that the patronizing isn't working? No, I'm just trying to make you aware of exactly what it is you're doing here, and why pretty much everyone else disagrees with you. (And the patronizing is simply for my own amusement. It's working fine.)Do you want to have an ideagasm?
jakee 1,489 #153 October 26, 2008 QuoteI have been insulted and called a liar, I have been attacked by because I don't openly praise Obama. Y'know, that's just bollocks, basically, isn't it? I've called you intellectually dishonest, because that's what you're being. There's an example of it right there in the exact same sentance. People aren't arguing with you on this thread because you don't support Obama, it's because you're being silly, clinging to an opinion that's unsupported by any form of evidence, and using the whole variety of rhetorical twists and turns to avoid having to directly address the reasons people are giving you about why you're being silly. As a reference, look at Trent's reply - I'm pretty sure he doesn't openly support or praise Obama, but he's got the good sense to recognise that it had absolutely nothing to do with him.Do you want to have an ideagasm? billvon 2,991 #158 October 27, 2008 >Why is it that people get so worked up over internet forums?? Human nature. Often people invest a lot of themselves in their online persona, and take arguments and slights personally. That's true in almost any community, from the people at the DZ to the people online to the people at work. The cool thing about DZ.com is participation is 100% optional, and thus there's no real penalty for "bowing out" if online discussions get under your skin. That's definitely not true at work. headoverheels 333 #159 October 28, 2008 QuoteI am not backing from my belief that Obama's campaign policies led to events that came to this unfortunate situation. Interestingly enough, Ashley Todd used to be a Ron Paul supporter. In that instance, she sent an e-mail to the Ron Paul group saying her tires were slashed and that campaign paraphernalia had been stolen from her car because she supported Mr. Paul. I guess Huckabee policies caused that. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08299/922849-53.stm
