Damned Coyotes

Recommended Posts

Today was a usual day in my neighborhood, coyotes with sarcoptic mange running around in broad daylight.

At night they run is two separate packs of 7-9 each, eating the cats and trying to draw out any dog unlucky enough to try and defend their yard.

Well as of 11:30 AM today, they are short one matriarch, she is in my garbage can taking a dirt nap.

Coyotes piss me off to no end!

Are you in the city or in the country?

An AR-15 with a 20" heavy barrel and a decent optic (leopould or even something like a EoTech with a 3x magnifier optic behind it) and you could take care of your problem. Some counties in TX still give you money for coyote ears. Maybe you can be that lucky!

They ARE scary! See look, it's just waiting to jump up and shoot your children with no human interaction!

Mine is scarier, but the one you posted is a good looking varmint hunting configuration.:)

what'd you kill yours with?

The last one I zapped was with a 7mm mag with a 6.5x20 Leupold. A bit of an overkill but thats what I had at the moment.;) I need to put together a good varmit rifle life you guys got goin on. Thats one thing I am lacking in my gun safe.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Hi Warped,
Coyotes everywhere!! North, South, East and West!! When I lived in CA (West Pasadena area '83-'84) coyotes got my Ruggy cat. They didn't even leave a trace except for one small tuft of her fur, that's all I found. Blast a couple for Ruggy for me and I 'll take out a few here in NC for you.

BTW, Good job!!

At Gary (IN) airport the ATIS warns of coyotes on the runways.
...

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

what'd you kill yours with? The EoTech is a decent sight. My whole BDE had ACOGs issued with our M4s. every soldier had one.

Nothing with that one yet.

it is capable of shooting targets at ranges of 1200 meters.
That's a Grendel

I have four others in 5.56mm.

The coyotes are worth nothing more than a cheap .22lr if in range.

They just aren't worth a buck a round.

The Grendel may get used on deer this year and a Moose next fall.

trapping is a very good means of keeping coyotes under control.in the states that have outlawed trapping they are having problems not only with coyotes but beavers also.instead of making money off a trapping fee states like mass have to pay road crews to keep unplugging colvert's.its nice to put out about 20 4x4 k-9 traps and catch coyotes that have been killing a farmers livestock.

yep,
.22 mag- nice one the size of a german shepherd.
.22lr- smaller ones
.308- usually during deer season.

it may sound gross but the healthy younger ones are edible and actually quite good as I don't like to chuck creatures I kill, but I realize it's not for everybody.

i eat a lot of the game i trap (what guy hasn't eaten a beaver or two)but i've never eaten coyote. i work with a few older vermonter's and asked them if they ever tried it, one guy said his dad would cook "puppy stew" another said his mom would grind it up with some onions and make burgers.some people say 'gross' i say" dinner time" don't knock it till you try it ,all natural .so how do you eat coyote(or beaver).
