Elisha 1 #26 November 6, 2008 Quote Did your research indicate why they were against it? ... No, my "research" was just looking up the descriptions on Wikipedia. I knew what they were when I voted, but that was by absentee a few weeks ago.

livendive 8 #28 November 6, 2008 Quote Exactly. And the other side is similarly emotional, seeign it the other way, rejoicing that they prevented a bunch of bullies from changing what marriage, the religious rite, is all about. One of those groups wishes to restrict the ability of others to exercise their religion and pursue happiness as they see fit, on the basis of their sexual orientation. The other group is not trying to deprive anyone of anything, they're just trying to protect their own right to happiness while it's under attack. Unfortunately the latter group lost, despite having (in my opinion) the moral high ground. And the thought of a crowd of effeminate male bullies makes me laugh. Shotgun 1 #29 November 7, 2008 QuoteExactly. And the other side is similarly emotional, seeign it the other way, rejoicing that they prevented a bunch of bullies from changing what marriage, the religious rite, is all about. And why do these people get to decide what marriage is "all about"? I certainly don't see my marriage as a religious rite, so does that affect the marriages of everyone who does? And don't they realize that marriage has continually changed over the years? Is the "traditional marriage" that they want to preserve the type of marriage in which a woman basically becomes the property of a man? Or is it OK that that particular little part of what marriage was "all about" changed? "Protecting marriage" my ass. What utter BS.
