What about that stimulas check?

Recommended Posts

I can think of a lot of things to do with it, but the truth is I'd put it in the bank to pay for food and bills. I wouldn't do anything fun or special with it at all. I can't really afford to.

I've lost a HUGE amount of the value of my 401k recently and I can't count on that just hopping back up in value any time soon.

Wanna get the economy going? How about finding a way to get the commercial paper market going again.

i hope not, they need to cut out spending. it would be much better for them to just not take my money in the first place than to take it and give some back.

i agree with your thought to bad Obama doesn't see it that way. how can he distribute it to who he feels should get it if he doesn't take it first?

i was openly against him and his "spread the wealth" philosophy before the election, and will be against spreading the wealth if he does it, but like it or not, he's going to be our president and i don't want to get obama derangement syndrome. at this point it doesn't do any good to bitch about what he might do. while i am firmly at odds with his liberal world view, i'm not going to get my panties in a wad just yet.

you're right, the strength of this country is the people that make between 50k & 300k and we will do just like we always have and that is work and make this country go forward.

though i disagree with Obama i will still respect him and his position. I do not believe in making a specticle out of the president and show disrespect like people did with Bush because that only belittles our country and shows how imature some of the US is. Obama was elected president, and wether we like his ideals or not, he deserves respect regaurdless of how we feel about his policies.

Very Well Said and I completely agree.
He is now our President elect and as such deserves respect however as American Citizens we must work towards supporting the policies we agree with and work towards stopping the ones we do not agree with.

Respect the Office.
Respect the Man (Obama has earned respect thus far)
Speak out against the Policies that the Man in the office wants to push that you do not agree with.

sorry but i had to add respectfully to your last sentence. one of the most damaging and dissrespectful things done to bush was when the dixie chicks in london said that they were embarrassed of bush.

And one of the bravest things I've seen a performer do. Natalie Maines certainly wasn't wrong and it sure as hell takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of that kind of crowd and put out that much of an unpopular opinion.

People may not have liked her for doing it, but she was right.

no she was wrong, not for her opinion but for how she put her opinion out and you are wrong for supporting it. she and others like her put our president in a more difficult position and undermined his position as a leader. as much as i disslike Obama i wouldn't want him to be made fun of on a national or internation scale like that, because he is going to have a tough enough time to make things work. he nor bush need or deserve the dissrespect that was displayed in that concert.

There are very few Texans that seem to have open minds and some common sense and are not the typical Texican practitioners of cranial rectal insertion . Among that group or non practitioners I would include Natalie Maines, Wendy and Dave. But the list of practitioners is horribly long and far too well entrenched

i have a big problem with an american leaving our borders to talk shit about the president or their country. i also have a problem with americans doing all they could to undermine and embarrass the president in the eyes of the world. it was wrong when it was done to clinton, it was wrong when it was done to bush, it it will be wrong if it is done to obama. dissent is good but lets keep it at home.

I really thought she was pretty gutsy to say that in public and support Natalie for what she said. She just chose the wrong forum. She should've said it here in the U.S. I still love the Chick's music and buy their CD's.

Well, a piece of the issue was that her comment was taken out of context and abbreviated in such a way that it made it sound as if that's the only thing she said.

She had said that " . . . we’re on the good side with y’all." meaning the people of England, and "We do not want this war, this violence . . . " meaning the unnecessary killing of innocent civilians.

The "quote" got shortened to "Just so you know ... we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas." which leaves out quite a bit of context.

She was treated unfairly.

Don'tcha just love the news media? If, they don't like what someone says... twist it, slice it, dice it... anything to make a story. I did, finally see her 'actual' statement, some time after she said what she did. I appreciate your posting it.
I think, what hurt Natalie, probably more than that statement, with her fans, was when she got on Toby Keith for his "We'll put a boot in their ass!" line in his hit song. The girl is... out-spoken!:D
