Well, without looking at the internals and how the questions were asked (which I am not going to do) I can only say it is what it is.

This one is for you

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/06/pub-global-poll-finds-obama-preferred-countries/

Uh, Rush, did you even read that?

On October 6, according to the article, 16 out of 17 countries preferred Obama and I think we all know how November 4th numbers turned out for the 17th country in question.

And I REALLY don't see how you think that in any way supports your previously stated position that the world supports GWB. You seem to think that support of the US implies support of GWB. It does not.

Yessss, that was the main point of the article but, there was that other pesky quesion dealing with how the US is looked at by other countries. It counter your comments very nicley

I support the people of China, that doesn't mean I support their current leadership. The two are not equal.

I believe the world supports the people of the US, but that in NO WAY means they support GWB.

I jsut posted the poll done world wide that shows your hated by the world postion to be bullshit. Sorry if the facts are in your way.

I'm sorry Rush, but I just don't believe that you're being serious! I don't think that even you can actually misinterpret that poll as badly as you seem to be doing.

The poll is all about overwhelming international support for Obama. Not Bush, Obama. There's even a quote there "Cannon cited President Bush's low approval ratings as another disadvantage to McCain's international reputation. "John McCain comes from the same party as Bush, and is considered just as hawkish on Iraq," he said."

How is that in any way supportive of your position that Bush is not massively internationally unpopular?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

the poll shows that most of the countries involved in the survey view the US favorably. This poll was taken while bush was in office. He has not destroyed the world view of the US.

I do understand your defense of this crazy position though. even though you have less than any data to back it up

it seems that in the real scheme of things,, Alaska was 'penny ante'...
NO disparagement meant to those citizens who live there.....
it appears that They can have her back,, to complete her term as Gov...

She is perfect for Alaska.:S

Alaska was flooded by redneck Okies and Texicans from the oilfields...hence its staunch rePUBICan bible thumpin support for Sister Palin.

k i just watched the o'reilly version. i cannot believe that he suggested that its just her frame of reference in geography, history and political structure that are weak...but she can be tutored...?!!! are we really that bad off, that we'd stoop to selecting someone to be the vice president of this country, someone who could become the PRESIDENT, that needs to be freaking tutored on basic geography, history, and political structures?

that makes me sick to my stomach...if they were elected, and then this kind of information came out...well, just thank goodness that didn't happen.

at least she knows how many states there are. there are 57 right?

no one claimed the world hated the US. they claimed that the world hated the BUSH administration.

which is, indeed, what that poll says.

:S

Wow, that is quite a leap

Also, they have to destroy Palin (if they can). She is a threat in 2012. A big one..........

No freakin' way. I do not put a lot of stock in the American public to see past their emotional biases; but to me the election night result proved that even they could see this goofball coming.

I don't see her being a threat to anyone ever again. My prediction is she will have a tough time not fading into total obscurity.

She finished strong

:S I though she was no where to be seen in the last week! Yeah., real strong!

They were obviously restraining her as much as they reasonably could toward the end.

Did someone allude to them keeping her muzzled as hurting the campaign?! Kidding right?

Keeping her muzzled was the only thing they could do. Who knows how much more stupid shit she would have utterred had they given her free rein.

She was worse than Reagan (who thought missles could be recalled) and Bush together. Could you imagine the 3 of them in a strategic conversation? They'd me creating all kinds of new words (perhaps a new language), reshaping world geography, invading countries with similar names or similar shaped coastlines. That would make a good comedic skit.

Actually if you take that quote at face value he says there are 60 (57 + 1 + 2). Fairly obvious slip of the tongue in saying 57 instead of 47.

Palin was on a whole other level!

Bidens stupid statements outdid anything ANYBODY could have said. the media killed Quale for a spelling. they protected Biden and when after Palin with the same biased zeal

Yep - the media's fault :P

So I will ask you. Do you think the media covered Biden and Palin equally?

In fairness to BOTH sides of the argument about GW Bush's presidency, shouldn't we wait for it to be over for a few years in order to get some perspective on it?

Really? You have to wait until he's out of office before you can judge him?

Yes. If you're going to apply some perspective on his term as president. Right now it's too close, too raw. It takes time to calm down from 8 years of idiocy.

Quote

Did we have to wait until Nixon was out of office?

It appears that we did. As he left office, all anyone would look at was Watergate, and the opening to China and other stuff was completely ignored. Nixon was actually a good president on the international stuff. Just completely amoral. And caught.

Quote

Did anyone wait until Clinton was(out of office)?

And once again, all the focus was on some scandal, rather than a balanced view of his achievements.

It seems that while ANY president is in office, all the focus is on the mistakes he's made. It's only after he's left office for some time that his WHOLE record is judged in a fair and balanced way.

Perhaps history will judge G W Bush as an utter idiot who did no right. How then will they judge the people who voted for him... Or didn't vote against him?

Nobody said that.
Nobody said that.
AND...
Nobody said that.

I just read this entire thread and, nobody said that. Quade said that most of the world hates BUSH, and in response to that you posted an article saying that 16/17 major countries (now 17/17 after Election Day) hate Bush. I'll quote my girlfriend here (after I've fucked up): "Do you need a shovel?"

So I will ask you. Do you think the media covered Biden and Palin equally?

Nope. Biden got virtually no airtime at all.

Palin was on, at rallies, etc, being covered a lot more. She was also on SNL, which gave her a lot of exposure (and not negative).

I would say Palin got a LOT more positive exposure than Biden did. Palin also got negative coverage though - gaffe, after gaffe, after gaffe.

Frankly, based on his reputation I'm surprised Biden didn't gaffe more (and would have hence been covered more) - but the fact is, he rarely did.

The media, quite simply, are going to report the most interesting/sensational stuff since it's what people will watch. Palin provided plenty of it - hardly the media's fault.
