Sarah Palin stuff coming out

Recommended Posts

When a reporter is getting inside info it is almost always with conditions such as source confidentiality, time of news release, etc. Most likely this reporter was asked by his source not to divulge that info until after the election. To have gone against these wishes could very well ruin the reporters career. (Who would ever trust him again?)
With that in mind, and since the public had a good idea of Palin's lack of qualifications anyway, it made no sense for the reporter to come out sooner.
I think he did a very good job.

Now, though, the public can be made aware of just how bad a pick she really was.

That's what peaked my interest though. You're telling me that McCain's campaign did not look into her or did a full check on anything that might damage his ticket with her as a VP pick. I never did like her, but I think the GOP are using her as a scapegoat for their loss on Tuesday. It's too convenient that all this is now just coming up.

Hath no fury like a woman scorned?

I agree. They are using her for a scapegoat and trying to deflect the nation's attention away from the GOP, whom the majority of the people blame for our country's problems.

This just might be the motivation she needs to hit the books for the next four years and come back in 2012 prepared to destroy her opponents. Could be interesting.

Firstly, you must mean two years as the campaigns are now two years long. Second, no. She's done. She may not think she's done, some of her supporters may not think she's done, but the Republican party is driving a stake through the undead corpse of Sarah Palin's political career. She may go back to Alaska and may even get support for another term as governor, but as far as national politics goes . . . done.

The McCain campaign needed to throw a hail mary pass to get moving. They needed a game changer and that was the best they could come up with. He also needed to get social conservatives on his bus, as they had a deep distrust of him, and no enthusiasm for his ticket. He got them on board with her pick, and a measly two point bounce after the convention. that disappeared very quickly once she opened her yap.

Then it blew up in their face.

In their rush to get that game changing result, they added someone to the ticket that was superstitious, ill informed, woefully out of touch with the issues people were facing in the lower 48, and of course displayed the hallmark of every stupid person. That is, she refused to shut up and listen to people brighter than her (a group that would probably contain housecats also).

She went from unknown, to rock star, to punch line, to loser is less than two months. There are some in the GOP that see her as the future of the party. I sincerely hope that they do. Punting that Wasilla hillbilly out as a candidate again will be the best thing they could do for the Democratic party. She should stick to having witches pulled out of her head, and maybe attend a basic high school civics class before she shows her face on a national stage again.

Sorry, she's an idiot.

Ouch!

I was never a big fan of Palin as McCain's running mate, nor do I agree with her position on many issues. She was painful for me to watch during interviews.

Still, I think she's far from "an idiot". Her lack of knowledge about a variety of important (and helpful) information--imo--is not shockingly unusual in the political arena. She just happened to be thrust into the national spotlight where her shortcomings would be illuminated 100x more than all the other "idiots" in office.

Hey if a newly convicted felon can be reelected...anything can happen. Marion Barry got reelected after being caught with crack and a hooker. Palin's chances?....slim but not impossible.

It certainly is at THAT level.

The vast majority of VP candidates that have ever been chosen are ones that could have just as easily ran for the Presidency themselves. Palin falls FAR below that standard. If Palin had, for example announced herself as a Presidential candidate and had slogged through the debates with others, she would have been torn apart and sent packing back to Alaska within a very short time.

Yeah, she's done. I also agree with your reply to my post, she is an idiot. But she doesn't deserve to be treated like this. Just let her go back to Alaska and finish out her political life. No need to be treated like this.

I wouldn't go so far as to call her an idiot, but agree that she doesn't need to be crucified. She's a beauty queen that strikes a cord with Alaskan voters, and I'm perfectly content to let her continue living the life she's carved out for herself...provided it only affects me when I'm on vacation in Alaska (a place I don't think most here can relate to).

She did not understand her role as VP candidate. I don't mean any of the infamous gaffs where she didn't understand the job itself, I mean she 100% did not understand her role in campaigning as a VP.

Rule 1 - First, do no harm (to your own party). Never publicly disagree with the party line. NEVER contradict the Presidential candidate.

Sorry, she's an idiot.

Perhaps this is the one time that you and Kathleen Parker agree on something. :P

An unusual aspect of this election is how little qualified Palin was to be VP, and how much more qualified Obama's running mate was than himself.

In terms of years of service, I agree.
In terms of leadership charisma . . . you're way off base.

i'll echo the anchor from the video: how in the world did someone like her get selected?! so many people have been asking this question since she was chosen. is there not some standard guideline for qualifications? how does one become a govt leader - state or otherwise - while not knowing which countries comprise NAFTA, or what our world's continents are? i learned a song in 3rd grade and have known them ever since.

i'm just so glad that what everyone has known without knowing for the last few months is now going to be splattered across tv screens and monitors nationwide. what a fucking joke - and to say that the republican party is still looking to her for future leadership, as they get back to the basics of conservative principles? is she really their best representation? SERIOUSLY? i was considering McCain's platform until he chose her. it just reflects SUCH poor judgment. she disgraced them! what, are they going to put her through college real quick and see if it takes the 2nd time around? sheesh.

When Palin was first chosen I thought she was a good choice. Now that she is back in Alaska I hope she stays there for a long, long time.

I think a lot of us did. At first I thought she was a brilliant choice. Unfortunately as we started to learn more and more about her it became clear that she was more damaging than positive.

I'm curious how the process for chosing a running mate goes - someone must have thought she was a good choice - I'm curious as to why.

A crappy one?

Wow, dont you get it? Do you think the McCain staff are going to blame themselves for the shit job they did?:D:D

Also, they have to destroy Palin (if they can). She is a threat in 2012. A big one..........

What? The GOP couldn't find anyone better looking than her or smarter - that party really is on it's uppers then.

[conspiracy theory] maybe, just maybe, because of the crap state of things at the moment, they wanted to loose.

Threat ... I doubt it. She just isn't good enough. That was obvious from the start.

While I agree, I find it an interesting juxtaposition to Biden's qualifications vs. Obama's.

Still wouldn't call her an idiot, though. :P

If you are correct then there would have never been the uproar that happened:D:D

But go ahead and keep doubting. You doubted bush too:D

His "failure" is yet to be judged. And not by you or me. that is for sure.

But keep doubting. Makes a good show.

k i just watched the o'reilly version. i cannot believe that he suggested that its just her frame of reference in geography, history and political structure that are weak...but she can be tutored...?!!! are we really that bad off, that we'd stoop to selecting someone to be the vice president of this country, someone who could become the PRESIDENT, that needs to be freaking tutored on basic geography, history, and political structures?

that makes me sick to my stomach...if they were elected, and then this kind of information came out...well, just thank goodness that didn't happen.
