erdnarob 1 #4 November 11, 2008 There could be a financial reason. Military market is more important than the civilian one and leading to less law suit problems. Some canopy manufacturers dropped the civilian market for thoses reasons like Paraflite and Pioneer. Also was the manufacturer talking about a military version of their AAD ? Maybe.Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all.
tdog 0 #5 November 11, 2008 Actually - it is my understanding that the manufactures often sell at a higher unit cost to the military as they have to add components that meet certain specifications, and adding those components can be profitable, and often the administrative nightmare of dealing with the government is higher, thus requiring added admin costs. QuoteAlso was the manufacturer talking about a military version of their AAD ? For my previous post - no this was not a military version of the AAD. Many manufactures ofter military discounts to military members for civilian use on the same civilian gear any of us buy - in the same way the movie theatres offer student and military discounts. First of all, as mentioned above, for the amount of work done and the level of education of most military members, they are underpaid. I know some Lt Cols with their PHD making just over $60K a year base pay. Second, a "usual worker" doesn't risk getting deployed to a location where his life is at risk every day. Just got a briefing from an Air Force logistics officer (typically non-combative job) who got shot in the leg because the driver of his convoy took a wrong turn in Baghdad. So most companies appreciate the fact that military members are willing to risk their lives so citizens of the US can be guaranteed their freedom. They're just doing a good deed! This sounds good to me except the wages. $60k is twice what a equivalent military in France can get a year. It looks to be more a respect of what they give to your country.Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
Andy_Copland 0 #11 November 12, 2008 Its because America goes from one extreme to the other, there is no middle ground. Vietnam everyone hated the troops and abused them. Now they travel to the supermarket in uniform hoping for a hand job off someone.1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue. France has a military? Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Wings offers a 50% discount on their containers to mil members. At least thats what it was last time I was in Z-Hills and asked a rep.Muff #5048
