There are some juries I'd have like to have hung. Anyhow, those old enough will recall that a lot of the Watergate defendants got themselves sentenced to tennis camp in Connecticut for, when all else failed, lying to the FBI. I followed the trial and I didn't think the prosecution did a good job at all. The defense didn't call a single witness and still the prosecution couldn't convince 12 people that he was anything but a sleaze. If being a sleaze was a crime we'd have to build a whole lot more prisons. Some of the commentators here suggested that the jury was put off by the "piling on" by the prosecution.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
DougH 270 #128 August 18, 2010 Most of the work by the defense was done long before the trial. It was the news interviews, talk show appearances, guest spots on the apprentace. We don't mind convicting politicians in this country, but we aren't as eager about convicting celebreties."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
wmw999 2,457 #129 August 18, 2010 Well, since the hung jury was hung 11-1 for conviction, and a couple of jurors have said that the holdout was completely unwilling to discuss the issue, it could also be that they got a juror who wasn't, in fact, impartial. Or 11 of them Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. It's not like the jury acquitted him of any of the charges. I think they'll make out with the next 12. Blago might have to testify in round 2.
