It is first for Obama ;-) It did not take him long! I have to say the man is effective! If it will help in this region? I doubt! I hear some is wining about Hamas sending rockets, and do not fight like men?

Please note..

These rockets were not launched from right next to a UN facilty to ensure any retaliation would have "Oh Woe is Me" potential to justify their sad existence as human beings.

These rockets actually TARGETED those who are responsible for terrorism... May allah accept them into his loving arms and provide them with all the virgins they are entitled to.:S

It turns out they're all virgin twinks!:o

Maybe if we start preaching that, terrorism will dwindle.;)

Did you declare war on Pakistan? I do not see any difference in the action!

You can say what ever you want, but in the other world you dont live, there will be a different story about these actions!

Same same but two different ways to see things! By the way there is not always the bad guys they are hitting.

Wow.
I didn't realize he was even in the military.

I think he does hold some military title. Something like Commander in Chief or something like that.

I thought they (our military) launched the rockets....most likely under existing engagement orders.

It is nearly inconceivable that he would be unaware of the plan and nearly as that he didn't give the actual go ahead.

The last I checked the map says Pakistan.. but the government in Islamabad has no control over it. Its a tribal area.. harboring our enemies.. the people who attacked this country. The Pakastani Army is unwilling and incapable of even exerting their law and control over the area. These people are attacking our people and our allies people across the border in Afghanistan.. they started the war... let them die in the war.

This is the war that Osama and his buddies wanted.. the Iraq thing was GOAT FUCK STUPID..

This president will not make the same stupid decisions.

Given the engagement rules I saw in the military, we didn't need CIC approval to respond to attacks.
It would be quite foolish of us if that were the case.

This appears to have been a strategic strike and not a tactical one. One that had been planned in advance and not one in response to momentary situation.

Where are you reading it was an immediate and direct response to an attack?

You can ask how many wars have you been fighting on other mans soul after WWII? How many bombs did your country drop in Irak betwen Gulf war 1 and 2? How many Government have you been directly involved or indirectly changing for your own benefits? it is a time to step back and see where did you do wrong, and evolve what to do different next time, and then maybe some enemies will start loving you again! Dropping bombs all the time do not make you more friends!

How many norwegian did get killed in UN service middle east is a better question, than how many got killed in WTC. By the way and you know where most of the terrorist came from, dont you?

Old news but

Osama was your friend!
Hussain was your friend!
Saudi is your friend?

There you go talking about facts again. Don’t you know facts are only accepted by some only when it agrees with them. Or else your facts must be wrong, or not important this time.

We are NOW workign on removing Osama
We got rid of Saddaam( I would have preferred a different method)

I have said from DAY ONE the Saudi's are NOT our friends. Perhaps now that the BUSH Family with so many ties to the Saud Family are out of the picture.. we can make some more effective moves against the Salafists and their desire to spread fundamentalism around the world.

I think all those who have a problem with the USA going after those who attacked this country could head to Iran.. and get in on the Great War Against Satan that Ahmedinejad and Company are trying to foster.

Just a thought.

In reading the article linked by the OP as well as MSNBC neither states exactly WHAT type of "operation" this was.
Where are you reading it was strategic?

I'll go check faux news....:P

It's a strike in a country we haven't declared war with. By definition that pretty much has to be strategic rather than tactical unless they, as a country, have declared war on us. Let's make certain we're both speaking the same language here.

Strategic - an action planned in advance.
Tactical - an action in response to an immediate situation.

Put in simpler terms, if a guy is shooting a gun at you and you fire back, that's tactical. If you think a guy might someday shoot at you and you decide to kill him first, that's strategy.

Tactics are "rules of engagement" items that usually do not require unusual amounts of approval.

Strategic missions of any sort usually do.

With the amount of emphasis the Omaba Administration has placed on diplomacy, to me, it is inconceivable that even in his first day he has not discussed the Pakistani situation with his commanders. If, as you suggest this was in direct response to an immediate threat, then it is possible that Omaba was not directly involved, but I don't see anywhere in the original story that suggests that, therefore I have to assume this is either a strategic move by him or an unauthorized use of force by an overzealous general somewhere down the line. It will be interesting to see how this plays out later in the day as events become more clear.

Given this region is completely unlawful and not "governed" by Pakistan, the history that the militants come out of hiding to make an attack then run hiding in the hills like the cowards they are, I wouldn't be so quick to assume this was strategic.
You're right about seeing how this plays out WILL be interesting IS spot on though.
We have had unwritten permission from the government there to carry out such attacks anyway...I think they would prefer we do their dirty work since the population "loves" us so much.

The President is not himself a member of the armed forces even in his capacity as commander in chief. To preserve the principle of civilian control of the military, it is a custom, adhered to by all candidates beginning with Washington, that a member of the armed forces will resign before running for President or taking the oath of office.
Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!

I think its a VERY clear signal to Pakistan and their Taliban supporters. If you cant eliminate the threat to peace and stability to your neighbor.. Afghanistan.. then we will. IT will prevent the Talaban from feeling all warm and fuzzy in their third world shit holes. If you will not make peace.. we will find you and spray the little vermin down with Al Queda_RAID
