should pot be legal and taxed?

Who cares? Smoking sucks!!

Personally, I think it's appropriate to just keep it legal for the medicinal purposes...Most of the artists I've worked with in California had their canabis club cards. Apperently you qualify if you have insomnia or headaches....I even heard having asthma qualifies you...go figure.

Those three medical reasons alone would qualify just about everybody....the only problem is that you'd be a registered dope fein and have to carry around a card with a mysterious micro chip inside....

Dude, people buy bottled water for $1 a bottle! And in most places water IS free.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying is the flaw in logic.

But I still think more people would seek to grow their own especailly since some of the "good sht" can go for the price of gold. (money that grows on trees)

I'll agree there. A home-grown culture will develop much like a homebrew culture has developed for beer.

Not once companies can plant acres of the 'good shit,' hire migrant workers to farm it and sell it by the ton. (The only reason it's the "price of gold" now is that supply is held low by drug laws.)

>(money that grows on trees)

Same goes for apple trees and gardens - but how many people have 'em?

Agreed...

I just didn't think there was a flaw in Clint's thinking.

I guess you meant the flaw would be thinking that everybody would do the sensible thing and actually grow their own....

What would be the effect of "stoned Driving."

About the same as driving under the influence of cold medicine that has been taken as directed, according to some studies. In other words, it has minimal effects on driving.

Actually, one of the things that makes the "good shit" so good is that it is grown indoors, exposed to far more light than it could be exposed to via natural sunlight (at least while on earth).

My experience has been that high quality indoor grown cannabis provides approximately the same bang for the buck as lower priced outdoor grown commercial cannabis. The good stuff costs ~4x more per unit of weight (retail), and has ~4x as much THC per unit of weight.

OTOH, outdoor grown commercial bud offers far greater quantity discounts. A pound of commercial bud is typically much less expensive than a quarter pound of high grade. I've not grown indoors myself, only "plant-sat," so I don't know how much of the "good shit's" higher price is due to increased production cost, and how much is due to the limited production potential and additional costs inherent in having to grow indoors.

I vote yes, legalize and tax it. Not only would it be good for economy but the enviroment as well. Canabis "eats" more CO2 and creates more oxygen than any other plant, and can be used to make great strong ropes and clothing It's almost the perfect plant and it's illegal :(

Right. And companies can do that far better than a guy in a basement can.

. . . so some enterprising company will sell it for 3.5x as much as the outdoor stuff and clean up. Then another company will come along and sell it for 3x, and will take over that market. Then a third will come along and sell it for 2x, but it won't be quite as good, so some will stay with the second company and some will stay with the third.

Sorry. I read too much into your use of acres and thought you meant outdoors.

I agree that companies could do it cheaper, but not necessarily better. Harvest time can be tricky. A few hours too early, and potency is lower than it could be. A few hours too late, and the THC starts breaking down, changing the characteristics of the buzz.

Individual growers who grow out of passion will be able to produce better quality product than larger companies.

I agree. Quality would fall along a continuum, rather than the current (approximately) discrete options.

Then the economy will be stimulated....people that grow their own weed and vegetables will start to feel guilty and stop growing and start buying for the sake of the economy...how's that for flawed logic?

Uh . . . OK. We grow some of our own vegetables. We don't feel too guilty.

well, if we lived more irresponsibly and wasted more money on things like water, vegetables, and weed, maybe the economy will heal faster.
