4 Oakland police killed

It illustrates that many people in Oakland are fucking idiots.

It also illustrates that being armed with a gun and and trained in its use is not a sure defense against an armed criminal, contrary to popular opinion around here.

I don’t think any one has ever stated that there is any thing that would be a sure 100 %defense, but it is better then being unarmed.
Also when the good guys have the guns the killing will eventually stop, people don’t get lined up and executed by the tens.

When you have a gun, and are properly trained you stand a better chance at staying alive against a fuck head like that then you do holding pen.

There will always be bad guys, and they will always get weapons no matter what the laws are, just look at the UK. Laws prohibiting law-abiding citizens for purchasing a gun just makes the good people less safe, and gives the bad guys the edge.

Well, come on John. It was obviously the 11th, 12th 13th and 14th rounds that killed the officers. If he'd been restricted to 10 rounds, surely no one would have been hurt.

now that's funny.

but your correct, smaller clips are not the answer. enforcing the laws already on the books will. not letting violent criminals out of jail will also help. letting the cops shoot first would possibly saved 1 or 2 of these policeman's lives.

Did you know, in california, you can buy every piece of a high capacity magazine, that can be readily assembled into a functioning magazine? They are called magazine parts kits. You buy them to repair your old, legal high capacity magazines, or fix your post ban 10 round magazines, or build them into 10 round magazines. But, it only takes 10 seconds to make it into the full capacity magazine that it once was. Do you think this criminal is going to mind breaking the law to assemble these mags?

I heard from my police friend that is at the funeral right now, that the gun was an ak, that was fully automatic. When he heard the officers kick the door in, he opened fire through the walls.

Now, of course, if the protesters outnumber the mourners tonight ... I'll say you've made a good point. :S

Well, they've overflowed the Coliseum today to honor the officers ... and there were only 60 yahoos out there Wednesday to "honor" Mixon. At least most of the community has its priorities straight. I'm sure OPD is far from perfect, but this guy is no hero.

Yeah that certainly is a good question. It took some major work and money to get that gun, that's for sure. I don't have any experience with AKs to tell you how hard it is to convert them to fully automatic, it is possible that all you need is some additional parts, rather than requiring the modification of the gun (which is the law actually). It is obvious to me that if he is able to illegally acquire a machine gun, then getting high capacity magazines is like going to the store for a pack of smokes. I really do hate the anti gunners who use every gun crime as an excuse to rally the public to vote in more gun laws. This man should not have been let out of jail to begin with.

Then there was no way he could have purchased that weapon legally, and furthermore at the cost of a fully automatic class III rifle that it would have cost more than $10k.

So where did he get this REAL AK47 that was fully automatic?

We will never hear the truth about that.

We'll have to wait until ATF does their Number check to find out it's origion and $$$ trail.

That can't be possible, Obama says that the guns in Mexico come from the USA, even the belt fed ones.

So apparently people go into a sporting goods store
is the US and walk out with machine guns, then they drive into Mexico and sell them, then people smuggle these machine guns into the USA and sell them to criminals.

Wow...:S

I drove I-5 "The Grapevine" several times yesterday afternoon and evening. I saw many police cars from several agencies in SoCal on thier return trip from Oakland. That was good to see..

Damn, I knew there was some sort of theory to it. Thanks for clarifying! (muddying?)

The theory is called the BS factor aka propagnda its not supposed to clarify anything.

The theory doesn't have to make any sense, just some of the people have to believe it:S thats why propaganda is a useful tool.:P

Yep. If they're going to protest something, they should be protesting the parole board.

This problem has been known for a long time, and no one has done anything about it.

But it's all the fault of guns...

Yeah, that's it. We'll just pass a law requiring registration of high-capacity ammo magazines, and then we won't have to fix that danged parole system. That's the ticket!
