Ms California and Family Values

Recommended Posts

Oh oh.... all of you values voters are getting screwed again.

Remember the big brewhaha and all thatr support you guys gave Ms Prejean in her support for traditional values in her answering the question in the beauty contest?????

Seems her family values include gettin nekkid.... getting pictures for pay.. and then lying about that fact to the organizers.

Poof goes the pageant crown. So much for that wholesome image.

To be fair, I believe they were lingerie photos- not exactly Playboy or Penthouse material. Something a lot of young aspiring models might have done. But, she lied about them- more than once apparently- and she got caught. She and her supporters really should suck it up and quit whining about a conspiracy. When you become a public figure, people like to dig up the dirt.

And then there's the boob job she had the California pageant group (I think) pay for. :S

Family values, my ass.

I haven't seen the photos but the article I read about this whole issue said that the first photo did not show any more skin than the bikini she wore in the competition. The bigger issue is the fact that she never told the pageant about them, then said there was only 1 photo out there. Only one? Who goes to a photo shoot and has only one photo taken? That's a really stupid lie, but not surprising considering the source. Now, one by one, all of the photos will be published and the pageant will have their excuse to dump her. Its 100% her fault but she'll cry conspiracy and keep trying to extend her 15 minutes.

Ahhh, the pictures really aren't that bad. Granted I'm not a values voter but i think the media is blowing this way out of proportion. all models and hotties in pop culture do this sh*t, even when they're pregnant!

Sounds like you're clawing at things to stir people up that disagree with you on other topics. Is that trolling? I don't know, can someone define what trolling is? cuz I think that's it, but I'm not really sure. "Oh oh.... all of you values voters are getting screwed again" i wonder if that is leading into a troll, but yeah, i guess i wouldn't know so help me out...

> all models and hotties in pop culture do this sh*t, even when they're pregnant!

What does being pregnant have to do with anything?

But I agree, they do that, and that's fine. Lying about it isn't, especially if you're going to talk about your morality and use it to sell yourself in a beauty pageant.

It's almost become a given lately that whenever some right winger stands up and starts moralizing about what other people shouldn't do it's going to turn out they've been posing for topless pictures, or have been soliticing male hookers, or paying male prostitutes with cocaine, or sending suggestive texts to underage boys. Heck, if you're gay, the best people to hit on are probably the people passing out the "BAN GAY MARRIAGE" bumper stickers.

here ya go SFW IMHO

Nothing I would mind my daughter doing if it was in the context of a modeling career. Certainly something any female model should expect. She isn't anymore topless in the photo than a lot of pagent gowns. Side of the brest and bare back. Sure she was topless to the rest of the room.

As to lying about being more than one. Without knowing her exact quote there appears so far to be one session and one outfit. I'd certainly under stand someone referring to the group and pose as "one" in that there are a number of essentially the same photos taken at at the same time.

She needs to be mad as hell and fight this crap. Not topless, one shoot, same body exposure. (at least so far)

Ahh, yes. I forgot, only those on the right are hypocrites, the left have just progressed passed the point where they were caught.

my point with the pregnancy thing is that posing semi-nude is common, artistic, and accepted. It isn't p*rn and evil when a preggo celeb is on the cover of a mag, but suddenly the same picture with a hottie that is buried away is? That type of shoot is normal and not immoral these days, and everyone knows it.

Sure she shouldn't have lied, but i mean sh*t, it was obviously worth the risk for her. i know nothing about the rules or which ones she broke, or if she even knowingly broke them. who knows, maybe she wasnt sure so tried not to risk it!

I mean basically, who REALLY cares other than someone (Amazon or people in the media) using the poor girl to make a point on a large scale, using her as a vehicle or postergirl for everything that is wrong with people that don't agree with you, when all she did wrong was withhold information. Yet she is paraded as this immoral demon that supposedly represents all that is bad with the religious right. I'm a f*ckin atheist and it p*sses me off!

It's an overreaction and people are using her as a pawn and making her life suck for their own benefit. Congrats to those, they should be proud of themselves. Hopefully her career takes off from all the publicity.

> I forgot, only those on the right are hypocrites . . .

Politicians/leaders on both sides are equally slimey. The ones on the right seem to specialize at moralizing. "No gay marriage!" "Family values." "Be faithful to your wife."

A scummy politician who says "yeah, well, I got elected so deal with it" is still scummy. A scummy politician who lectures others about "opposing the gay agenda" while paying for gay sex is scummy _and_ a hypocrite.

?? Again, what are you talking about? No one is saying this is porn. You can make porn with pregnant women or non pregnant women. You can do very tasteful nudes with pregnant women or non pregnant women. What does pregnancy have to do with anything?

>Sure she shouldn't have lied, but i mean sh*t, it was obviously worth the
>risk for her.

Obviously. She took a risk, and they found out; she loses.

> i know nothing about the rules or which ones she broke, or if she
>even knowingly broke them.

She signed a detailed contract, which she apparently has violated in two ways:

================
The detailed document prohibits the titular Miss California from making personal appearances, giving interviews or making commercials without permission from pageant officials. In the last 10 days, Prejean has made televised appearances at her San Diego church and on behalf of the National Organization for Marriage, a group opposed to same-sex marriage.

The contact also contains a clause asking participants to say whether they have conducted themselves "in accordance with the highest ethical and moral standards." As an example, it asks if they have ever been photographed nude or partially nude.

"As you can see from the contract, she violated multiple items," (Pageant Spokesman) Roger Neal said in an email to The Associated Press.
================

>I mean basically, who REALLY cares . . . .

Obviously you do! Two long posts so far.

>other than someone (Amazon or people in the media) using the poor
>girl to make a point on a large scale

I think it's funny that back when she was speaking out against gay marriage, the right wingers were yelling "Why is everyone ignoring her just because she's a beauty pageant winner? Her opinion is mainstream america's! She has a right to it! Why are liberals afraid of it?"

Now that she's been found out, the tune has instantly changed to "Why is everyone talking about this poor girl? Just ignore her! She didn't do _that_ much wrong."

The right wing made her an icon and wanted to get her statements as much exposure as humanly possible. Looks like they took a risk - and lost.

>when all she did wrong was withhold information.

And violate the terms of her contract.

Personally I think the glass houses analogy comes to mind about casting stones..

Personally I think nudity SHOULD be a family value....

I think there is some passage in the Bible.. about being created in GOD's image...

Ah yes, the bible. The world's saving grace, moral compass, and fact filled science book. Crusades were awesome right?

Bill, you're clearly missing what I'm saying, my guess is intentionally.

from cnn.com:

"Although Neal said Prejean "breached her contract" by keeping the semi-nude photo or photos a secret, the only pictures published so far appear about as revealing as the bikini Prejean wore in the pageant's swimsuit competition. "

"In a statement given to CNN on Tuesday, Prejean said the photos -- and she did use the plural -- were being used in a "vicious and mean-spirited" effort to silence her for "defending traditional marriage." "

If they were a violation of the rules, it is completely subjective which is BS. the photos could just as easily be exempt. Additionally, people are just using her for their own agenda which really sucks. I dont even agree with her political statement, but it's crap that all these 'progressives' are so mouthy and hurtful.

Everyone's an a$$hole.

>If they were a violation of the rules, it is completely subjective . . .

No, it's as objective as possible.

"Did you ever pose nude or semi-nude?"
"No."
"OK, then sign here and we're good to go."

That's not subjective. That is an objective lie.

> the photos could just as easily be exempt.

No, they can't be. She was asked the question. If, at that point, she said "yes, I posed for TheDirty topless years back" then all would be well. And your claim that it's all being blown out of proportion would be valid.

She didn't do that. She lied, and thus violated the terms of her contract.

> Additionally, people are just using her for their own agenda which really
> sucks.

Yep, both sides are indeed. I have zero sympathy for her, though. She made the call to lie on the contract, and she made the decision to use the pageant she was competing in as a podium for her political opinions (which, of course, she is free to do.) She got exactly what she wanted - lots and lots of attention.

Does anybody remember the Miss America scandal involving Vanessa Williams back in the mid 80's? First black woman to be crowned Miss America and then she was forced to give up the title due to posing nude for a magazine prior.

Look what that scandal has done for her career. She's done well, and has the talent to prove it.

Basically.. Who really gives a shit.

This whole thing is blown way out of proportion. The girl is entitled to her opinion. I personally disagree with that opinion (If Gays want to get married and screw their lives up real good.. More power to them.)

I have a right to my opinion, She has a right to hers. (Marriage = Man & Woman only). Just because answered a question and did not give the Lefts Approved "Politically Correct" Answer, They launch a witch hunt. Burn the Heathen that dared challenge what we have determined to be the correct answer. How dare she not agree with our Agenda. Grab a Pitchfork and BURN the Witch.:S

Now.. There is "OMG!!!" an almost-kinda-sort of-semi nudish-but not really Picture found.:o. Burn her again!! Quick!!

Big Woopti-shit.:S

By people who say things like

"the Lefts Approved "Politically Correct" Answer . . .witch hunt. Burn the Heathen . . . Grab a Pitchfork and BURN the Witch.. . . Burn her again!! Quick!"

Yep. It is indeed getting blown out of proportion. But when the blowers complain that about the blowing it's sorta funny.

I'm a proponent of gay marriage, generally (I'd prefer that marriage not be government sponsored at all, but given the current menu of options I lean toward just allowing marriage between any two consenting adults).

I totally disagree with Miss Prejean's opinion on the matter, which appears religiously based (I'm an atheist).

However, I think that she's getting screwed by the political correctness machine here. I believe that we all have a right to our own views, no matter how unpopular they may be. I also generally believe that you should evaluate people on their job performance, personal interactions with you, and such, and, especially in a professional circumstance, hold their political views aside from your judgments.

I disagree with her, but I really sympathize, and I think she's being treated with exceptional unfairness simply because she is brave enough to state her convictions.

I am kinda wierd.. I expect those who crave attention and the limelight.. who use their pulpit to preach to the rest of us their biblicaly based morals.... I expect them to live their morality.... as they proclaim others should be doing... and they are not.
