rushmc 23 #1 May 14, 2009 "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." quade 4 #2 May 14, 2009 Quote Dr. Adrian Rogers And he's exactly the kind of person I'd put up against the wall first when the revolution comes. Not that I disagree with what he said in your quoted material, but he sure said a lot of other crap I don't agree with. For instance, this gem; Quote "I believe slavery is a much maligned institution; if we had slavery today, we would not have this welfare mess." I'll let you Google that one. And . . . just how did he make HIS (tax free) money anyway? Oh yeah, bilking it out of little old ladies.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Funny you should say that, since it's the tax cuts advocated by the "righties" that take people in the lowest income brackets out of the tax system by removing their tax debt.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. As far as I'm concerned anybody that's taking money "in the name of God" and building MegaChurches can go straight to hell. I thought you were an atheist? My parents and grandparents were good friends with Dr Rogers. My grandfather went on more mission trips and community service trips to other countries than I could ever count. The reason for the megachurch was the rediculous amount of members. Thousands of people were in attendance every Sunday year after year. I don't know who quoted him in the slavery comment or where it can be cited but according to a website on his life: Rogers supported the 2000 revision of the Baptist Faith and Message which states that, "the blessing of racial and ethnic diversity and acknowledged that all races possess full dignity by the creative intention of God." If you honestly believe that having a big church means they should go to hell then I think you're completely missing the point. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. jclalor 12 #24 May 19, 2009 It's always a good laugh when a person who claims to be a follower of Jesus bashes the poor. Baptist ministers seem to only use the parts of the bible that fit their needs and forget all the other things it has to say. What I dont understand as a non-beleiver is why would personel wealth even matter if you are going to spend eternity flying around heaven. If one truly believed, why would one worry about material posessions in this very short time on earth. I would think to cover all your bases to get into heaven you would error on the side of trying to be too Christ like. Please point out in the bible where Jesus preached about the lazy poor people and to fight against higher taxes.
