Lefty 0 #1 May 22, 2009 Don't get me wrong--I would have done the same in his position. Got a kick out of the photo caption, though, so I felt compelled to post this. airtwardo 7 #2 May 22, 2009 "Here we have President Obama and his administration saying, 'Here we are for the common, middle class people,' and here he is not letting 150 5- and 6-year-olds into the White House because he’s throwing a lunch for a bunch of grown millionaires," Stine said. ~Yeah, fuck 'em...lil' crumb munchers can't vote anyway! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
TankBuster 0 #3 May 22, 2009 Probably a good thing they didn't get in. He might have treated them like Rev Wright and his grandmother - and thrown them under their bus......The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.
Gawain 0 #4 May 22, 2009 That caption is classic...on an NBC site no less...Bummer for the kids, but the parents and teachers should have back-planned better. Every trip I made to the White House, I was ready waaaaaaaay earlier than I was expected to be there. If you think it's going to take you an hour to get there from Stafford, VA (which isn't that far from DC), plan for two-plus hours, easy. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! riddler 0 #5 May 22, 2009 I was once called to give a presentation on Hybrid-electric power (for city buses) to Barbra Bush. I spent two months preparing for it. On the day of the presentation, her staff cancelled it in favor of a tour (I think of the Coors Brewery?) Anyway, that's how it works with White House agendas. They plan more than they can do, actually do what they can, then cancel everything else. I didn't take it personally. I like Barbra Bush, I think she's a neat lady, and I thought her husband was a pretty good president. I'm sure the kindergarteners will be just as happy getting an ice-cream cone. When the right-wingers get bored of this story, they'll have hundreds more of the same type of story to pick and choose from - Obama snubs homeless pet shelter, Omaba snubs gay-pride activists, etc. The same thing could be said of any past POTUS.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. skinnay 0 #7 May 22, 2009 QuoteThe White House tells a slightly different story. A spokesperson said the group was actually supposed to be there at 9:30, but they held the gates for the group until 10:30, 15 minutes longer than they told the group, but when they still hadn't arrived, they had to draw the line. Lesson in disappointment? Sounds like a lesson in being the fuck on time when you meet the president.
