Ya know what? He's a comedian. Comedians will occasionally push the edge and have to eat a little crow but people need to get the over it or change the channel.

If you lump all of the times Letterman has crossed the line in his entire career it's still not going to add up to a single episode of a lot of what goes on during most "morning zoo" shows that run across the country. It's not going to add up to 15 minutes of some talk show clowns that spew hate.

People need to get over it.

Considering the number of children who are snatched, raped and murdered these days; I think Dave crossed waaaaay over the line. The excuse that he is a comedian is lame at best. I will never forget the heartbreaking video of Carly Brushia (sp?) being led to her rape and murder down in Florida.

Even Sangiro has a rule on this site that jokes about pedophilia would never be tolerated and will be enforced by you Bill and Quade.

I think CBS and Letterman need to man-up and make a sincere apology to the Palin family. I don't think Letterman should be fired but rather a short suspension perhaps.

Maybe. But I suppose if the Palin family deserves an apology, then all the families Rush Limbaugh and Tom Leykiss have offended in the past would deserve one too. (Note: You probably couldn't list all the names offended by Rush himself without causing some type of warp in the space-time continuum)

As for the excuse of "I didn't know it was Willow at the game"...it doesn't matter...why joke about anyone's daughter getting knocked up in celebrity/comidial/political fashion...even in this case, pedophilia...

Oh gimme a fuckin' break. If you actually think the joke was maliciously made by him about a 14-year-old then maybe you have a valid point of view, but I'm nearly certain you're wrong about the circumstance. I'm nearly 100% certain he just didn't know which daughter was at the game.

It was clearly a mistake, but Letterman isn't such a big idiot to have consciously attacked the 14-year-old. Sorry. No matter what you may think of him, look at his career history. He regularly works with kids on the show. He knows what's off limits. Me made a mistake and now some falsely righteous indignant blow hards are making a mountain out of a fuckin' mole hill.
