gregpso 1 #83 July 25, 2009 The way you folk over there treat your lower paid workers is a disgrace. The good old USA capitalism at its best (if you are part of the haves) and at its worst if you are a have not. Then there is your health care system. Great country.... saved our ass in WW2 (thanks) Great country for a holiday but I would not want to live there. My wife is just a sales assistant works 35 hrs a week $32000 pa with 4 weeks leave plus 10 days public holidays. Me I do security at govt buildings. (40 hour week) I do fuck all get $61000 pa 9 weeks leave plus 3 months long service leave (folk in the USA would not even know what that is) every 10 years. Plus the govt puts in 9 per cent a year into superannuation. Not bad I reckon. Oh yeah our economy is doing just fine thanks.I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

If you don't like the laws of this country, you are free to relocate to one of your choosing, if they'll accept you (referring to immigration laws of other countries, not commenting on your character in any way). Better yet, contact your elected officials and insist that they vote the constituents will and the constitution as they are sworn to do

rhaig 0 #86 July 25, 2009 I think quade's point is that people who have a lot of money somewhere along the way used either government infrastructure and/or employees. It's coming off as a whiney "millionares got there on the backs of others, none of them worked their asses off along the way" which it may well be, but I don't think that's his point.-- Rob
SpeedRacer 1 #87 July 25, 2009 hmmm. I did make minimum wage when I was working summer jobs in my senior year of high school. But now, I have over 20 years experience as a biologist, and a Masters degree in Molecular Biology. Yet the law says they only have to pay me minimum wage. But my employers pay me much more than that, even though by law they don't have to. How did I manage to get my employers to pay me many times more than the bare minimum they are required to pay me by law? d_squared431 0 #91 July 25, 2009 QuoteQuoteQuoteQuoteExcept you're leaving out that fact fantasy that if they could pay them less, the employee would always be free to find work from someone willing to pay more for it. It would be nice if it were fact, but in the real world, no such luck. So in which state are people not allowed to change jobs if they're not happy with their wages? It's not a matter of being allowed to change jobs. It's a matter of being able to afford to take the time to look for alternate employment and/or the better paying jobs actually being available. For many people it just isn't a realistic option. That is the problem right there. You do not need to quit a job prior to finding something different. If people look hard enough and apply themselves they will find what they want.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly

futuredivot 0 #94 July 26, 2009 But we can apply ourselves and increase our earning ability. In 93 I was living in a trailer with no power working nights in a dead end, filthy, backbreaking job. Last October I was flying around South America in a Citation. I'm not that smart-definitely not educated. I did keep my eyes open for opportunities and busted my ass when I got them. Every position I've had, I've worked with people that were better at my job than I was. So I saved and paid my own way to training, I put in 80 hrs when others put in 40, and I damn sure didn't sit around waiting on the government to improve my situation. You are only as strong as the prey you devour
