This scares me to death? Is this really true?

It is! I just went on the site, and my computer has been acting weird since. It even tried raping me!:|

On a serious note, I can't seem to get to the page they are referring to. Could anyone post a link? Or does one have to be a registered car dealer to have access to the secret baby-eating kitten-killing window?

You believe Fox?

1.If you are a consumer visiting cars.gov (the "cash for clunkers" website) the Federal government cannot take control over your computer, nor will it ask permission to do so.
2.The "Terms of Use" statement to which Beck refers in this clip is not from cars.gov. Rather it is a login page for dealer transactions located at esc.gov.
3.The only people who can get login credentials for the esc.gov site are dealers who have been screened and registered for the "cash for clunkers" program.
4.To summarize: the page in question isn't on cars.gov and can only be used by dealers who have already registered. Consumers won't be impacted by any of this.

5. Have you thought about making a tinfoil beanie?

1. You're saying don't trust the "journalist." (actually... you are only implying don't trust "Fox journalist" - thus all other journalist are ok)
And thank you for pointing out that he does state that it's with the dealer link - but since I haven't and DO NOT HAVE ANY INTENTION of going on that site anyway, I can neither prove you correct or incorrect.
But... they have a hot girl telling the American population, you mean that a hot girl would lie to everyone?! (well... even if she lies, I bet most guys would still do her)

2. You're implying that the government is good and has no nefarious plans included in that disclosure. (And so many of your posts here lean toward such a trusting view of the government.) But what purpose would that disclosure provide? What LEGAL reason would there be for requiring such a blanket consent on that "term of use"? Or.. is this "if you aren't doing anything bad, you have nothing to be afraid of"?

3. Nice attempt to totally discredit her by bringing up the tinfoil hats. So... anyone that has any reservation that you don't seem to share MUST be simply crazy?

4. I just like numbered statement (kinda like Deadpool)

You believe Fox?

So one of the most watched news networks NEVER reports the truth? Did I not ask a question in order to verify it? Do you know what a ? at the end of a sentence means?

Have you thought about making a tinfoil beanie?

Have you and a few others here thought about how rude, condescending and arrogant you are when someone ask a question?

When something seems outlandish, there's a very good chance that it is false.

Prudent people check before posting rubbish.

Really? Have we be using the same internets.... cuz on mine, there are LOTS of post about rubbish. Even from so called "prudent people"

Hell, sometimes you change ID's to try and get away with it. Is that rubbish too? You have posted more than once that it was when John Lott was the topic.

But it is OK for you to do?

Rubbish maybe?

You need a better filter, then.

It took less than a minute to find out that the OP was yet another internet hoax.

So, you are telling us that you only visit sites that are 100% reliable... like dz.com?

Now who is posting outlandish rubbish?

Putting words into someone else's mouth is NOT a very smart debating tactic. I expected better of you.

You are critiquing my filters and suggesting that I need a better one. That does infer that yours is better. But yet we do visit the same website... right here, on dz.com. I would NOT consider dz.com to be 100% reliable.

I would consider anyone that even tries to insinuate that he has a better filter to check his site history.

Not words in your mouth... just trying to follow "logic"

I don't consider this to be a "news" site, and I can't believe you do either.

The people to whom I refer are those who find rubbish on Newsmax, Beck, Limbaugh, or right wing blogs, don't bother to factcheck it, and post it here as if it's Gospel, or ask "Is this really true?" (a very old politicians trick).

There are reliable, reputable sources of news on the internet and they are easy to find.

If a story sounds outlandish, it most likely is false. There are very good fact checking sites out there too, and DZ.COM is not one of them

You are quite right.

I don't consider this a "news site." It's a release for me. A chance to hear other perspectives and thoughts that I might not have considered. But I'm not naive enough to trust everything posted here, or on Fox or even on the infomercial that are sponsored by our wonderful government.

glad I read this before going to the CARS site

- tin foil beanie installed on the computer, wrapped some extra around the cable wire just in case - check
- visit CARS site, determine if both cars qualify - check
- swap tires & wheels with stranger for $200, remove jack, floor mats, head unit and other valuabe parts - check
- go to dealer, get my $3,500 discount, turn in clunker, kiss her goodbye, shed a tear - check
- drive out with new car - check
- rush home to see if my computer has been hacked, destroyed, or somehow infiltrated - check
- no problems, everything working great, remove tin foil - check
- this is a great website - check

- thanks for the tin foil idea, saved me a lot of trouble, tricked the government again - woohoo

Really folks - if you want to worry about something, try swine flu or the millions of bacteria on your kitchen counter.

Prudent people also ask questions before the believe something.... The OP here asked a QUESTION to check the validity of something.

You jumped his case when he asked a question... .do you treat your students that way?

Now if you had included left wing blogs also, I would have agreed with you.

Seems to have worked in this case.... So if it does work, then your theory has been proven false.
