Which Obama do you (choose to) believe

Recommended Posts

The one that says that Public Gov Run Health Care will not take away your private insurance?

Or this one?

This guy is too slick.
I have never believed a word he said.
And, I still don't.

It is not what he says, it is how the teleprompter tells him to say it I guessB|

Some version of "But it's (Bush's, Conservatives', Big Business's) fault."
They've been a one trick pony since the election.

I believe that there is the possibility that Obama may have entered this with too much intellectual and political idealism.

Jimmy Carter did the same thing. He emerged from his one-term presidency a reluctant realist.

Obama's positions switching? It may merely be the result of his and his advisors thinking that it could be done - like a young lieutenant. Then the E7 comes along and says, "Sir. I believe that you have failed to consider x, y and z."

I just wonder if Obama ever says to himself, "Dubya was dealing with stuff about which I had no idea."

I still think GWB fucked up mightily. And yet, Obama is as much a continuation and intensification of the spend mentality.

GWB AND his Party members in Congress screwed the pooch. What we have now is the comeupance that is deserved.

As for Obama and those like him, it is power for powers sake (and that includes most of those in Congress). And power for powers sake removes any chance of having a belief of any kind. By not having a principled position you can never remember what you have said in the past. When you have no priciples, and you cant remember what you said in the past, your statements (in todays world of cameras an the internet, WILL come back to haunt you. As it now has done here

I am certain that every newly elected President thinks that sort of thing.

I disagree. We have had principled leader in the past. One may not agree with the principle but that does not say they have no idea.

There are a few things I can agree with Bush. Most all of his domestic policies were not among those.

He had a stance on most everything and whether you agree with those positions on not, I feel you have to admire someone who pushes what they belive. Unless of course that belief is one of arrogance. THAT is what we have today. (not with just the POTUS)

Don't confuse what he would like with what he believes he can get through Congress and signed into law.

We recently had a candidate who promised "No nation building" but look what he went and did.

Certainly a good bit. Clinton did, and got rebuked often early on. Bush did too, but with 9/11 he had unlimited political capital for at least a year or two.

bottom line to me - we see the problems with a young but confident guy in charge. Too little experience.

It's a shame the GOP insisted on putting up a guy that was experienced in matters completely unrelated to our key problems - McCain may know Congress, but he didn't know economics. A better candidate might have been able to escape the Bush drag.

And as I state before, he got his ass voted out of office. I am hoping the trend continues.

As for kallends tired old look back at the past (and I really dont know who his is this time but he is using the kallend ID) he is funny, cause he cant defend his savior much longer. And that has got to be pissing him off:D

And still no Obama supporter has stated which Obama they believe. :)
Princle gets in the way of power for Obama. This in the end will bite him in the ass.

That's because it's an idiotic question; it's not even a question at all, just another juvenile bash in the form of an interrogatory.

Yet you steadfastly and repeatedly defended the "No nation building" nation builder right here on SC.

Do I detect a hint of a double standard?

Hello? Is this the real kallend?

Ok, for this reply, I will assume so (talk about double standard):D:D

To tell you straight, I would need to know what your definition of "nation building" is. Maybe you can clarify that for me to start with.

Second, I still do not think that is what he was doing. If he was then all those Dem congress people were doing the same thing long before he came to office.

But, I know this is a simple fact you (who ever you are) will ever acknowleg. If this is you then this is the kallend I know and love:)

I dont really think that.... sure, there are secrets the new guy doesnt know about... but I would say that Reagan and Bush 41 likely were realistic in their expectations.

No, this is the plastic inflatable version.

But even a plastic replica can detect a double standard - that you hold Obama to a different standard than you held Bush.
