Virgin - Virgin, it was only a question. I did not intend the comment to be an attack. I apologize if I came across that way. Are you familiar with the parlor game "one-ups-manship?" It frequently is associated with alcohol consumption. The object of the game is a battle of wits between opponents where one person makes a statement and the other responds with a "yes, but" and goes one up. The last man standing wins. Observers usually walk away when they cease being entertained and they usually carry no opinion of either player.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. DanG 1 #152 August 19, 2009 I think your explanation is better than mine. I was merely pointing out that that God=Allah to true Muslims. I also find interesting parallels between where the Islamic world is today vs. where the Christian world was in the Dark Ages. When people point out the horrors beset upon mankind by the Catholic church throughout history, Christians are quick to say that they were the fault of man's corruption of the Word, not the actual teachings of the Bible. And then in the next breath they decry the barbarism of the Quran. Few seem to recognize the hypocrisy. - Dan G

You think that anyone but you in this thread needs 'Reality Therapy'? That's priceless! Quote Demonic possession is real; demonic spiritual influence is real. No, it's not. It's imaginary. Being crazy is real though, and believing in imaginary things is one real big signpost for it. SivaGanesha 2 #155 August 20, 2009 QuoteThe amusing thing to me is that the naysayers don't seem to have to ability to ignore Christian testimony. There's something about the name of Jesus. If the whole concept is foolishness why bother to refute it? I would suspect there are many of us non-Christians who would prefer to politely say that Christianity is just not for us, shake hands, and move on, without bothering to attempt further refutation. But some of us have loved ones who are Christians and are not willing to leave it at a simple, polite, disagreement. Family is still family even when there is deep disagreement regarding religion. This sometimes forces the non-Christian family member to spend more time thinking about Christianity than they might otherwise prefer--but this proves nothing whatsoever about whether Christianity has any validity."It's hard to have fun at 4-way unless your whole team gets down to the ground safely to do it again!"--Northern California Skydiving League re USPA Safety Day, March 8, 2014

RonD1120 62 #157 August 20, 2009 QuoteQuoteDemonic possession is real; demonic spiritual influence is real. Uh huh. To date nobody has ever proved the existence of God, but somehow they've proved the existence of demons? Awesome. The Bible offers the following concerning the existence: Quote James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!19 Concerning recognition: Quote 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. Concerning Biblical tools to combat: Quote 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Useful tools for direction in a chaotic, evil world.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. redlegphi 0 #158 August 20, 2009 You do realize that quoting the Bible doesn't constitute proof of something claimed by the Bible, right? Much like a Muslim quoting the Quran to you wouldn't constitute proof of what's in the Quran (feel free to substitute another religion and religious holy book). If they believe there is something else behind it, i think it takes some of the pressure or blame off themselves. If that works for them, amen! its just when politians support religion, or teachers instruct that a religion is fact. those are problems. religious geography is interesting.
