Are you familiar with the parlor game "one-ups-manship?" It frequently is associated with alcohol consumption. I think your explanation is better than mine. I was merely pointing out that that God=Allah to true Muslims.

I also find interesting parallels between where the Islamic world is today vs. where the Christian world was in the Dark Ages. When people point out the horrors beset upon mankind by the Catholic church throughout history, Christians are quick to say that they were the fault of man's corruption of the Word, not the actual teachings of the Bible. And then in the next breath they decry the barbarism of the Quran. Few seem to recognize the hypocrisy.

This sometimes forces the non-Christian family member to spend more time thinking about Christianity than they might otherwise prefer--but this proves nothing whatsoever about whether Christianity has any validity.

logic and science may not be enough for someone, who has either spent many years battling addictions or has personality issues. If they believe there is something else behind it, i think it takes some of the pressure or blame off themselves. If that works for them, amen!
