Tea Party Weekend

Recommended Posts

I'm not saying those people weren't there, and I did see a few like the ones in that video.

But I was there, and in any crowd that size (a million or so people) you're going to find a few ranters. The fact is that most of the people present were pretty much just normal folks who weren't screaming, chanting, or haranguing the crowd. The total normalcy of most attendees was actually quite striking.

I'm sure you can dig around Youtube and find video of various wild-eyed folks ranting on various sides of any issue. That doesn't make them valid representatives of the average person holding this or that viewpoint.

And some research has shown that the left is sending nutty acting people in to discredit all of this. Not saying that is the case here. I also would expect it happening the other way.

But just to take a youtube video and and make generalized comments is more stupid IMO

Oh, and one estimate for the crowd is nearly 3 million. 1.5 seems to be the general consensus however......

That video is a very small percentage in any event

I doubt there were 3 million there. I looked at the NPS diagram that estimates attendance at capitol mall events, and compared it (from memory) with the areas that I know were full of people. My best guess is around 1 million. Of course, that's just a guess, and, as I said, I'd believe anything from 500,000 to 1.5 million. But 3 million sounds out of line, to me.

Good post, and thanks for the insight about the tea party. I've heard estimates of attendance all over the map. Unfortunately, many of them are predictable based on the political leanings of the source [:/]

Of course, the one wrong photo that was posted early doesn't help, does it.

No content. Except for the PA. Of course, most of the Mods don't like you, so.....

Hardly a PA by most people's standards. We do have a few people that would get their knickers in a knot about it but it looks like tit for tat and as long as it doesn't go any further we're not going to boot anyone over that.

Dude, relax.

I thought Speedracer's post was funny, not a PA. Sure, it was a bit of a slam on a group (of which I am a member). But (to misquote Jimmy Buffett) if you can't laugh at yourself a little, you're going to go insane.

Not upset or mad. I can however point the crap out as I see it. I am very use to it now however so know that I am very relaxed and just playing the game as some greenies define the rules here.

Thanks

Saturday night AM radio was saying there were 10 to 20 thousand protestors in DC.

I tried to find a hotel room in DC on Saturday night. There were none available, so I ended up driving the 4.5 hours back to our house in Roanoke.

Let me repeat that: there were no hotel rooms available in the Washington DC metro area on Saturday night. In a city the size of DC, that doesn't happen from 10 or 20 thousand visitors.

A few questions because I just can’t believe you people have such bad selective memories.

Can someone tell me how this is not considered being a traitor, or unpatriotic, When the people who rightfully stood against GWB about the Iraq war were called all those things?

How is that standing up against a war that was false, more costly in lives and money was compared with being traitor or unpatriotic?

But this is is being a hero?

Do the people at these tae parties think the current system of health care is fine the way it is?

If not
What’s their solution?

The more you look at the peoples reaction during the 200 days of this administration, and what they stood for in the pervious 8 years one has to wonder what the fuck is their problem.

Is it just because he is a democrat? is it because he is black?
I am not one for pulling the race card but how the fuck can you march for this but tell every one else to shut the fuck up when they mentioned something much worst.
Like raping our constitution, or starting a bullshit war with no bid contracts.

I just don’t get it. I have yet to hear one rational argument to keep the current health care system?

As for TV coverage you should check out Fox they basically started this teabag party or whatever its called now movement.

Again I ask what is your solution? or do you think every thing is fine the way it is?

Tell me, show the quotes of who said those things?

I feel it was more a point of your side claiming that those things were being said to stiffle the debate.

I await the quotes

Whats your debate? you said nothing.

You can see what i think. I have said it iover and over again, and i belong to no side never have.

Here is the short version of what I think.

I think healthcare is something that effects all of us and if we have a single payer option where the government (which I understand is all of us) pays the bills. That’s it. Pay the doctors, hospitals and every one else providing the actual health care.
All an insurance company does is takes your money takes a cut and then gives it to the people who actually did the service. They are the middle man who do not answer to me they only answer to their share holders who only care if the value of their stock goes up.

Even though I think the profit model is great for most industries I do not think it is right way to do things when it comes to health and a few other industries. Mainly because it does not deal with a product but with humane lives.

Also prevention is much less expensive. We already cover all emergency care you can not turn someone away because they do not have cash. It’s cheaper to prevent them from ever getting to the emergency room.

Now
Answer my question please.

Do the tea party people think the current health care system is fine the way it is?

If not what’s their solution?

I await you saying something with substance that is related to the health care debate. I sincerely am I have yet to hear one logical argument.
